We have two in the top ten, deservedly so when you watch the highlights or even better catch them playing in person. A great dig from a defender on a seemingly sure kill can turn the momentum around and lead to a long run of points. To our knowledge, none of the top liberos listed here have publicly committed to a college yet, but expect that to change as the club season gets into full swing and coaches see these difference makers up close.
The first of two Spokane area defenders covered here, Hickman is part of a rising Ridgeline program in the Spokane Valley. She is a tireless worker who loves the game and is a positive presence on the court for the Falcons and her club teammates, she earned 2nd Team All-Conference honors this season. She is quick to pick up off-speed shots and her serving has become a problem for opposing passers.

This Olympia DS/L is another in a long line of excellent Washington indoor players that may end up playing Beach volleyball at the next level. Barnett is a skilled and athletic defender, and all the touches in the sand have made her versatile in setting the ball, and she can easily drive over a smartly located free ball to pressure the defense. Barnett is an excellent all-around player who does the little things well to help her team win indoors or in the sand.
Hoy impressed at the state tournament for Olympia, hanging tough against some of the biggest arms in the state. She gets her feet set and has great reactions to balls outside her midline. Hoy generates surprising pace on her serve, and she keeps it low and flat over the net.
The Union standout was on point all season long, she teamed with twin sister Lana to help power the Titans. An excellent passer who has setting skills as well, Saopraseuth is agile and accurate with her passing. She does an outstanding job holding her platform, moving the angle to best keep her setter out of the net and in a good rhythm.

The Kingco 4A defensive player of the year has honed her defensive abilities in the sand, and her out of system setting shows how much it translates. She can put the ball on target for her hitters from anywhere on the court and has the quick feet to run down off speed shots.
The Eastlake junior put up some ridiculous dig numbers this season, with a 35 dig effort against Newport as one of her highlights. Like the top defenders at the position, she is quick to cover her teammates, willing to get on the ground for the big save and has a solid platform in serve receive. She has a strong frame and can take serves and hard shots overhand easily.

Reiter is extremely talented, it’s splitting hairs between the two top liberos in the state. There is a good reason she ranks in the top six of players overall in the 2024 class. Reiter put the state on notice at the WIAA tournament as a sophomore, then backed up that work with some unbelievable play during club last season. She has a great first step when she is covering tips and her hitters, and has special acceleration when she runs down a misplayed ball. It will be a defensive dream if her OJVA squad matches up with WVBA and Alyss Kelley at some point this season.
Highlights
The Lake Stevens junior is a dynamo in the backline and the top libero in our current 2024 player rankings. Rock solid in serve receive and having played against top competition in club and school ball, Kelly is instinctive, strong, and quick to the ball and her experience allows her to read hitters and situations at a high level. Her leadership will be much needed for a Lake Stevens squad next season that loses three big-time performers.
