Her sheer athleticism – combined with her ability to jump high, hit hard as a leftie, and set well – put Rasmussen on the top half of the rankings. She has a lot of potential to become a very talented all-around athlete.
Highlights
As one of Catlin Gabel’s top leaders in total assists, digs, and aces, Cohrs had a solid and impressive season. She is quick and has good footwork, which helps her to handset most balls. Cohrs also puts up a solid block that forces opponents swinging from the outside to make mistakes.
Playing out of the middle, Jackson has been an offensive weapon for the Pleasant Hill High School Billies. Throughout the season, she notched a large number of the Billies’ kills, using her explosive and powerful approach to put the ball away. Jackson is also deadly from the service line, where she tallied more than 60 aces this season.
Carr has done an excellent job swinging from the outside this season for West Salem. With a quick arm swing and a strong court sense, Carr places the ball well and often manages to put it away, posting a handful of kills per match. Carr swings deep and has become skilled at burying the ball in the back corners of the court. Her solid mechanics, combined with her athleticism, will help Carr continue to improve.
Although she’s tiny, Comer sure is mighty. Playing primarily in the back row, Comer is super athletic and quick, managing to get a hand on every ball that comes her way. She is also hardworking and constantly tries to improve her all-around game, as is evidenced by her great arm swing and ability to take a solid back row attack.
Cooper is a very solid and steady defensive specialist for Jesuit’s junior varsity team. She reads the ball well and can react quickly on serve receive and defense, which helps her consistently pass settable balls to help keep her team’s offense in system. Cooper’s passing is controlled, and she is skilled at both passing with her platform and at using her hands when and if needed.
Highlights
Hawk has a lot of potential to become a very solid player, which she showed throughout her improvement this season. She is tall and uses her height to her advantage when she dishes out her wicked jump serve to opponents. On defense, Hawk is quick to react to hard driven balls, and does a great job of moving around the court to cover her team’s hitters. Although she primarily played from the back row this season, Hawk also has a strong swing and the ability to set when needed.
Posting double doubles throughout the season and putting up 20+ assists in several matches was Schnell, a solid setter who received a Mid-Willamette Conference honorable mention for her excellent playing. Schnell is a smart player who reads the court well. She’s also talented all-around and has the ability to put the ball away when she needs to.
Although Sande is a bit undersized as an outside hitter, she manages to hold her own from the front left. Sande has become skilled at placing the ball away from her opponent, drilling it down the line or rolling it at a sharp angle. She uses her strong swing to hit the ball high above hands and deep in the court. Sande also has a tricky, hard-to-pass jump serve, which makes her a weapon not only from the left side but also from behind the service line.
Kitchin does a great job of moving around the front half of the court as one of the Lake Oswego middle hitters. She swing blocks effortlessly to the pins then uses her solid footwork to transition for a set. With every rally, Kitchin can be seen covering her teammates each time they hit. Although Kitchin doesn’t touch the ball super frequently, her court presence, consistency with her footwork, and ability to put up a big block all show that Kitchin is a talented middle with a lot of potential.
Using her height, Horne puts up a solid block from the middle and uses great footwork to transition for a swing. Horne has grown into becoming a solid and dependable middle hitter, notching a handful of blocks per match to help her team defensively.
Highlights
Vigil has shown a ton of improvement from her freshman year to now, making her debut on Santiam Chrisitan’s varsity team this season after having a standout season on junior varsity last year. She is quick on defense and passes with control. Given how quickly Vigil has excelled this year alone, it is clear that Vigil has a lot of potential to become a high level athlete.
