Many players stood out to our court coaches and scouts throughout the entire showcase for a variety of reasons. Some players stood out for their dynamic physical skills and some stood out for intangibles like leadership, effort and attitude. Let’s meet a few of the players who earned the moniker of Top Performer at the Dallas Expo.
Mary Beth Morse Mary Beth Morse 5'11" | OH Southlake Carroll | 2025 State TX [2025] 6-0 Right Side/Middle (HS: Southlake Carroll/Club: Madfrog ‘ last=”]/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miss Morse is currently ranked as the 72nd best overall prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings, but has every shot to move up the rankings with what I witnessed at the Expo. She plays for Southlake Carroll High School and plays club for Madfrog ‘ last=”]. Mary Beth was a dominating force at the net during scrimmage play. I was super excited to move her up to the top courts and she how she stacked up. MB showed us that she not only belonged at that level, she was one of the top performers. The cream usually rises to the top during multiple matches and that is exactly what happened when Miss Morse took the court. Her power was unmatched and she showed a great presence at the net while blocking. Routinely she shut down would be point scorers from the opposition and then transitioned to score herself. What truly stood out, other than her immense power, was her technical footwork, which allowed her to be in a perfect position to attack at a high level.
Madison Winkler Madison Winkler 5'5" | DS/L Keller | 2025 State TX [2025] 5-4 Libero (HS: Keller/Club: Texas Advantage Volleyball/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Maddie is currently ranked as the 36th best overall prospect and 4th best libero in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. Miss Winkler is a stud libero that plays at Keller High School and also for the famed Texas Advantage Volleyball program. I have been in awe of this young lady’s grit and determination to pursue a ball since I watched her for the first time at the beginning of the last year’s club season. Since then she has just gotten better and better. We were very intrigued to watch her compete against the competition that signed up for this event. She did not disappoint as she stood toe to toe with the best of the best that the showcase had to offer. Maddie is someone that is so fun to coach because she is like a terminator on a mission to destroy her competition. While you might see a demure and soft nice young lady at first before she plays, you will see a lioness ready to devour her opponent during her play. She is fast and furious on the court and not much falls to the ground near her zone. Miss Winkler was one of the best liberos in both the positional drills and in the scrimmages also playing against older competition. I am very excited that she agreed to play up an age group this year as it will only sharpen her skills even more and get her ready to play at the next level.
Anna Barr Anna Barr 6'2" | OH Lovejoy | 2025 State TX [2025] 6-2 Outside (HS: Lovejoy/Club: Madfrog ‘ last=”]/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Anna is currently ranked as the 50th best overall prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at Lovejoy High School and club for the nationally ranked Madfrog ‘ last=”] program. She stepped into a huge role this year with Lovejoy and helped them to another fantastic run through the playoffs. Miss Barr is the total package when it comes to six-rotation outside hitters. She also can be very strong on other positions along the net, which makes her very dangerous. Her ball control was something that stood out to me while I watched her compete in the top courts of the Expo. Every court coach was in awe of her shot making ability, but I attributed it to fantastic ability to direct the ball wherever she wanted it to go due to amazing hand contact. It is this that will keep her on the lists of every college coach for the next few years.
