Club Team Preview: WVBA 16 Adidas

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Our club team preview series rolls on with the WVBA 16 Adidas team. The team has had two competition weekends thus far to start the season. The team is at 11-2 overall and has some of the top-ranked players in the state at their respective positions. Depth is no issue, with two quality setters and a mix of pins that can compete from either side and three hard-working middles. Did we mention a libero who covers everything? They have that too! Expect this team to be in the mix as one of the top 16U teams in the Pacific Northwest. She had a breakout season at Lake Washington, including a 22-kill eruption against Kelso at the state tournament. She is unafraid to challenge the block with her heavy swing, and that results in deflections off high hands that can't be tracked down by the opposing team. The freshman burst on the scene at Lake Stevens, helping to drive a deep run at the state tournament. She is a six-rotation outside for WVBA Adidas, playing middle back on defense to take advantage of her ability to attack from the pipe. Watching her during the first month of the club season, she has increased her ability to deliver kills with a variety of shots. Have no doubt, the deep corner hammer is in place, and she will rip it from the back row, now there is also a chip or roll in transition. She is scoring with a soft shot to the campfire out of the back row and working the line and hard angle when it's there. Her footwork patterns have been consistent and locked in, and the set location and tempo have been on point. She can take a pass when forced to backpedal, plant her feet and push it out to the pin or leave it in the perfect spot for the pipe attack. She is an easy mover, flowing to the first contact when it's past the 10-foot line and adjusting her set to make it easy on her hitters. When attacking from the pin she is a low error hitter, while still taking a max swing and ripping the ball when the opportunity is there. Dorcht is easily able to get down and dig out a ball, chase a roll shot to the corner or handle a hard shot right at her. The team is 11-2 on the season thus far, and everyone has been contributing, including the dynamic player from Jackson High School. Eastwood is a stat stuffer and is athletic enough to garner her share of kills and blocks from the setter spot. She is well accustomed to making plays on 50/50 balls at the net and is difficult to beat on the joust.
