With most of their athletes returning, they are poised to do quite well this season. The group will be led by Mike King, who has coached the OJVA 17-1 team for a few seasons. He brings collegiate-level coaching experience, having coached at the University of Portland and Eastern Washington. Assisting him will be Jeff Mozzochi, former OJVA club director and Hall of Fame collegiate coach at Portland State University.
We will be highlighting some of the OJVA 17-1 Gold athletes to watch this season below.
Dreves is a 2025 standout hailing from Washington state. With the 2025 Washington rankings recently released, Dreves took the #2 overall spot. The outside hitter is coming off a fantastic high school season with Columbia River where her play was a major contributor in their 2A State championship. She was awarded 2A GSHL 1st Team All-League as well as 2nd team All-Region and All-State. Although a class below the rest of the group, she contributes mightly to this team and is an offensive and defensive asset. She is an incredibly well-rounded six-rotation outside hitter with the ability to do it all. She is an exceptional defender in the front and back row, brings solid serve receive, has top-notch attacking, and a contagious, competitive edge on the court.
Highlights
Heytvelt is an absolute powerhouse from anywhere on the court. Given her physicality, height, vertical jump, and athleticism, she proves deadly from any attacking position. Although she has been the primary middle blocker for this group the past two club seasons, she may take on a different role this season. With an ability to obliterate the ball down the line or cross-court from the right side, she makes for an incredibly lethal right-side hitter. Her lights-out blocking from the middle translates well on the right side and allows her to consistently shut down the opponents outside hitters.
Reiter is a top defensive specialist in the class of 2024 from Washington state. With the 2024 Washington rankings recently released, Reiter took the #6 overall spot and the #2 defensive specialist. She is coming off a fantastic high school season with Camas, where she was named 4A GSHL Co-Player of the Year. This is an incredible honor for any athlete but is almost unheard of for a libero. This speaks to not only her skill on the court but her attitude and court presence, which obviously made an impression on opposing coaches. She is incredibly solid and technical on serve receive, allowing her team to execute a faster offense. Defensively, Reiter is fast and does an exceptional job reading the attack. Her back-row play will be instrumental for this team to compete at a high level.

Walker will need to step up this season offensively to fill the major hole in the lineup. With Emily Fulton Emily Fulton 5’11” | OH Sherwood | 2024 State OR moving to Athena, the team looks to Walker to take her place in the lineup. Given her athleticism and coachability, she has shown drastic improvement and is an entirely different player than she was at this time last year. Her attacking out-of-system has come a long way and she has become a threat in that regard. Primarily playing on the right-side last season but playing on the outside through high school, her transition to the outside for club season should be smooth.
Highlights
