Continue ReadingAfter finishing 4th in the CEVA region last season in the 14U division, the now OJVA 15 Gold team is positioned to be very competitive this season. Most of the team from last season is returning, plus four standout additions, and with no holes in the lineup, this team should be dominant. They had a chance to compete at CEVA’s first-ever Open Tournament and did incredibly well, finishing 10th, the highest finish for a 15s AND 16s team. The OJVA 15 Gold team is coached by Juno Cruz, who coached this level last season. Moving from Florida, he took over the Southridge High School program this past season. Assisting him is Charity Bradley, a recent Washington State and University of Portland volleyball player alum.
Buerkle is the #2 recruit in the class of 2026, so it is no surprise that she would be a major impact on her club team. With both Buerkle and Zola Zuccolo Zola Zuccolo 5’7″ | S Jesuit | 2026 State OR returning from last season, it is safe to assume they will continue to run a two-setter system. She has impeccable decision-making skills, a high IQ on the court, and a soft touch on the ball.
Highlights
Cameron is an impressive six-rotation outside hitter. With an explosive attack and an impressive vertical jump, she proves lethal from the left pin. On defense, she showcases a quick reaction time and makes some impressive saves. She had a breakout season for Prairie High School, starting as a freshman and shouldering a huge offensive load.
Highlights
Kincaid is currently sitting at #3 in the State for the class of 2026, so it is safe to assume she will be an impact on this team. After a season at Athena on 15 Gold, Kincaid returned to OJVA where she previously played on 14 Gold. The club is undoubtedly excited to have her back; she brings athleticism, height, and versatility to the team. Although she has switched between the middle and the outside over the past few seasons, she always finds a way to be a difference-maker no matter the position.
Sanchez has come into her own as a talented defensive specialist. She has honed in on her back-row capabilities over the past year. She is consistent on serve receive and athletic on defense. Thus far, Sanchez has the highest serve-receive rating and the most digs on the team. So it is safe to say she is making a major impact on the team’s back-row play.
Schaaf is a talented middle-blocker. She has showcased an insane amount of improvement over the past few months, becoming a formidable force in the front row. Quick in transition with a fast arm swing and a high reach, she proves deadly when she connects with the balls. While her attacking is impressive, her blocking is the best part of her game. She does a good job reading the opposing attacker, laterally moves well to close at the pins, and seals with the net to shut down many opposing attackers.
