The state of Washington is no exception, and many clubs will be sending multiple teams representing the Pacific Northwest. Prep Dig will be on hand to cover the action over Presidents Day weekend, today we focus on several of the most explosive athletes attending the tournament. Look for continued coverage of the SCVA Las Vegas Classic over the next few weeks.
Mairs is a pinpoint attacker from either pin. She is powerful and has the vision and feel to find the open court and score. She is a multi-sport athlete who moves around the court smoothly, and the Camas star can always step in and set a second ball or full-time if needed.
Kendall Mairs Kendall Mairs 5’11” | OH Camas | 2025 State #84 Nation WA MHMC 2023Page Stepaniuk at libero for Excel NW 18 is a cat-quick defender who keeps rallies alive and throws herself all over the court to rack up digs for the team. She is headed to PSU to play at the next level.
The University of Washington commit continues to rip the ball and use her footspeed and quickness to play great defense. An impressive vertical and great timing help her as an attacker, and Huard will drop in the off-speed shot at the optimal time for her Sudden Impact 18 squad. Keep an eye on Huard’s teammate, middle Yazzy Muhammed, who delivers some of the top monster blocks in the PNW.

We love to see setters that can put down an overkill or deliver a momentum-changing block. Traynor can do all of those things and makes it look easy when setting in the move, delivering the ball with excellent location and tempo. The Seattle Christian standout has great size at 5’10 and is an efficient right-side attacker. It’s hard to overlook a few other PSVBA 18 Legacy athletes, Olivia Deckard and Tatyana Tause Paulino. Deckard is explosive in all phases of the game, Tauese Paulino can track it down from her libero spot.
Poydras is on our radar as one of the most explosive attackers in the Washington 2024 class. A great vertical and a whippy arm swing make every attack a chance for a highlight reel kill for the Sudden Impact outside hitter.

The middle blocker for RVC 17 is playing up a year, and it’s been a smooth transition for her after an outstanding sophomore season for Mead. She is elbows above the tape as a blocker, and she gets off her feet quickly to attack at a fast tempo. Her work in transition makes her a consistent threat, she is excellent at making herself available as an option.

Flick-Williams has tremendous rise, something the outside hitter has spent hours and hours improving in the gym. It’s paying dividends in the early club season, she has been crushing the ball for kills. She will hit high hands, and rip it down the line with deception, opponents seem surprised when the 5’7 jumping jack soars up for a stuff block. Fun to watch!

Villanova-bound Harrell has the power and athleticism coaches covet in a high-level attacker. She swings and the ball that comes off her hand is hard and heavy, blockers have a tough time staying strong enough to not get tooled or driven through. Harrell brings that same heat from the pipe, a skill honed by taking those same swings as a 4-year starter at Ellensburg. Her teammate Katy Wessels from Lewiston is a University of Washington commit as a middle blocker, she has overwhelming physicality and a tremendously high ceiling. Wessels has been a multi-sport athlete for the majority of her athletic career, she should have a huge jump as she focuses exclusively on volleyball.
