Texas club teams are no exceptions, as they are flying all across the nation to play in those events and book their tickets to Chicago from June 28-July6.
This coming weekend will present several opportunities with National Qualifiers taking place in different locations and one of them is the Big South Qualifier, a 24-division event that will take place in Atlanta from Friday to Sunday.
Some Texas teams will make the trip East and we’re previewing the tournament by featuring some of the players who can have big roles for their clubs. Right side is the last position we explore and here are some names to keep in mind:
Hall was one of the most intriguing right side hitters to emerge in the class of 2026 in the state of Texas. She’s a big offensive weapon for her Alamo 15 Premier team that will be in action in the 15 Open division in Atlanta. Very long and explosive, Hall has tremendous firepower in her right arm and makes contact with the ball at very high point. She’s also extremely versatile offensively, being capable of scoring from the right, the middle and the left and her uses that tremendously well to diversify its offense.
Highlights
A strong offensive player, Ochelli will certainly score a lot of points for Houston Skyline 16 Black in the 16 USA division this weekend. Very physical and athletic, she first came up as a middle in the last club season with great promise. Because of her incredible offensive potential, Ochelli was moved to outside hitter during the high school season with Fort Bend Kempner. The move helper her develop other areas of her game and opened the door to her transition to the right. Ochelli can hit from anywhere at the net and is really hard to stop because of her length and power.
Highlights
A new addition to her Alamo 16 Premier team that will compete in the 16 Open division in Atlanta, Hughes has immediately taken a key offensive role with her team. Her game at the net is extremely well-developed as the left-handed Hughes can send the ball in numerous different directions when set at the right. Besides diverse, her game is consistent too, offering her team a reliable scoring option. Hughes is also a strong blocker, who uses her length and jumping to put pressure on opposing hitters.
Highlights
Burns is another middle turned into right side who has been finding great success in her new position. She’ll be with Houston Skyline 17 Royal in the 17 Open division and it will be a great opportunity to see how she performs against elite competition. After playing middle, Burns was a pin hitter for Seven Lakes in the last high school season and was one of the team’s most important players. Her transition to the right has been very smooth as there she can continue to develop her offense while also making a big impact with her strong blocking.
Right side is a position of strength for the Houston Stellar 17 Elite team that will play in the 17 Open division with Morton and Peyton Spahn Peyton Spahn 5’10” | RS Barbers Hill | 2024 State TX splitting time there. Morton’s main assets on the court are her length and her athleticism and she uses them very well to make an impact at the net. She’s a very mobile player and a strong hitter, who can score in a variety of ways. Her blocking can a factor too as she uses her long arms to take up space from hitters and has excellent timing going up.
