Continue ReadingThe Chaos 18-1 Elite team has managed to compete mightily in Flight 1 of the CEVA 18U division. After the last Power League, the team is sitting at #4 in the 18U division, which does not include teams competing in the Open division. With last year’s team made up of primarily seniors, the team looks a lot different. However, they were able to secure some talented athletes from the east side of Portland and put together a competitive crew for this season. Returning from last season are club director and head coach Nerisa Laban and assistant coach, and her daughter, Matalasi Laban.
As the lone returner to the Chaos 18-1 team, Acosta has taken the reins as their primary libero. While she saw a fair amount of court time last season, splitting libero duties, all eyes are on her this year. Anchoring their backrow, she shines on serve receive, incredibly disciplined, she is able to keep the team in system consistently. On defense, she is very speedy and athletic, making impressive moves to stay in the rally.
Emma Fairbanks

Fairbanks is a dynamic setter. She oozes athleticism on the court and gets her hands on nearly every ball. She displays solid decision making and gives her attackers consistent sets to run a smooth offense. Haley Moreschi and Fairbanks typically split setting duties and run a 6-2 system.
Autumn Gaboury
Autumn Gaboury
Gaboury is a powerful attacker with the ability to step into any front row position and shine. She has shown a significant amount of improvement over the last year. She has a hammer of an arm and when she connects with the ball, it proves deadly. She has proven herself to be a major asset to this team.
Ellianna McMoore
Ellianna McMoore
McMoore is a physical and athletic middle blocker. She has an explosive approach, an impressive vertical jump and a powerful swing so when she connects with the ball, it proves lethal. Her blocking is imposing, with the ability to move laterally quickly and a strong press over the net, she shuts down plenty of opposing attackers. McMoore showcases a lot of raw, natural talent, and tons of potential.
Haley Moreschi
Haley Moreschi
Moreschi made the switch to Chaos after playing last season with NW Elite. She showcases a lot of natural talent in her setting capabilities, with a beautiful touch on the ball and athletic feet. Standing at 5’9”, she can easily set across the front row, or step in to attack the ball. Emma Fairbanks and Moreschi typically split setting duties running a 6-2. Moreschi has a lot of potential and is definitely a setter to keep your eyes on.
Steward was a standout pick-up for this team, after playing for Athena last season. With some serious athleticism, an explosive approach and an impressive vertical jump, she is utiliized heavily to put the ball away. When she connects with the ball, she proves hard to stop, but is also smart about placement when she does not have the ability to swing away.
