Texas will, of course, be represented in the event, featuring 55 teams across the four 16s and four 17s divisions of the event, and some of the most exciting prospects of the Lone Star State will be in action this weekend.
As we prepare to support our Texans teams in a challenging weekend, we’ve been taking a look at some of the most promising players that will be on the court and today we complete our positional breakdowns with the right side hitters.
Potter will be playing one age group up with Excel 16 National Red in the tough 16 Open division but she will for sure play a big role in the team’s offense. She makes contact with the ball at a very high point and has tremendous power in her right arm. Potter doesn’t need to make a full approach in order to be able to unleash it and that makes of her a very effective player when hitting quicker sets on the right. She’s very strong hitting from the right as well and is a solid blocker.
Highlights
One of the most explosive hitters in the entire state, Porter is playing on the right for Houston Skyline 16 Royal and try and help them succeed in the 16 Open division. She’s a very productive scorer who can jump out of the gym and had a powerful and skilled right arm. Yes, much of Porter’s offense is built upon her athleticism and power, but she can also blow opponents away with her ability to score with tips and roll shots. She’s been hitting a set in the middle coming from the left that has been filling her highlight reel with bounces. An outside hitter with her high school team Cy Ranch, she can also pass and play defense at a very high level.

Harper Luthy
Harper Luthy
Originally an outside hitter, Luthy has been playing on right with AP 16 Adidas to help accommodating all the talent available in the team that will appear in the 16 USA division in Orlando. Her offense has been standing out in the new role as Luthy has been using her offensive range and power really well to score. She’s been especially prolific when hitting sets out of system because she makes great contact with the ball and send it towards the end line, avoiding errors and creating problems for opposing defenders.
Other Positional Breakdowns
A right side hitter with excellent range, Spahn will feature on the right for Houston Stellar 17 Elite in the 17 Open division. She’s got some impressive power on her right arm, but mixes it up with finesse plays really well, being capable of scoring in a variety of ways and keeping opponents on their toes because of that. Another big part of Spahn’s offense is her decision-making, which massively limits the number of errors she makes and also helps her find solutions to difficult plays. She also gets off the floor really well and has very good hangtime and body control.
Avery Psencik
Avery Psencik
Another versatile player, Psencik has been splitting between the left and the right with the Houston Skyline BCS 17 Royal team that will be in action in the 17 USA division. A middle at the start of her career, she benefits from her background to hit quick sets behind the setter and even the middle position. Psencik has got a lot of power on her offense, but is also very smart and resourceful and typically does well when out of system. She’s also a strong blocker and also contributes on the backcourt with solid defense and passing.
