Claire Mo Claire Mo 5'10" | S Langley | 2026 State VA (Paramount) – The club season has just begun and the Paramount 16 team has already qualified for Junior Nationals. They recently earned a bid in the USA Division after a second place finish in the Sunshine Qualifier. The lone 2026 player on the roster possesses all the intangibles one needs to become a great setter. She runs an offense well, her teams win and she carries a confident calmness on the court that silences any hint of panic from entering the picture. It also helps if your roster carries multiple weapons to stack your offense. Claire knows how to make those weapons work.

You may think her 5’6″ height makes it tough to keep Megan Phan Megan Phan 5'7" | S Bullis | 2026 State VA in the front row. Think again. Her high school Bullis used her in the front row to run a 5/1. She finished second on the team in blocks. That shows she brings a nice vertical to the net if given the opportunity. For Virginia Juniors she plays up. Unfortunately for her, the roster carries multiple pin hitters who need to play. That relegates her to a 6/2. She brings a good serve to her game and plays a strong defense.

Wynn Mendez Eaton Wynn Mendez Eaton 5'10" | S St. John's College | 2026 State VA and Casey Yuh Casey Yuh 5'4" | S Yorktown | 2026 State VA (East Coast Power Shock) – Wynn stands taller than Casey at 5’9, which allows her to play some right side. Because St. Johns used Wynn in a 5/1 her hitting does not yet come natural for her. Time and repetitions will make it work. Casey set for Yorktown and at 5’3″ is relegated to setting from the back row. The duo has the hands and quickness to cover the court. Accuracy and consistency will come with more experience.
Charis Burge Charis Burge 5'10" | S Bullis | 2026 State VA and Sydney Bryant Sydney Bryant 5'7" | S Virginia Academy | 2026 State VA (Metro) – These two set for perhaps one of the top 15 teams in the country. They set from the back row, run a quick tempo offense and have the weapons to run a more complex system. Charis set some for Urbana High in Frederick helping them win the Maryland 4A State championship. Chalk it up as the first volleyball state championship in program history. On that team the 5’10” Charis ranked third in kills and third in assists. At 5’7″ Sydney stands a little smaller. She set for Flint Hill in limited playing time. Sydney hopes her setting for Metro will enhance her game and her opportunities for increased playing time.
Sofie Ferrell Sofie Ferrell 5'9" | S Woodson | 2026 State VA (Virginia Elite) – The 5’9″ Sofie was the third setter for Woodson High last year. This changed once her skills began to show. Her playing time increased as the season progressed. The team flourished. Sofie brings all the tools you look for in a setter with the soft hands and quickness on the court. Her serve also stands out. She led her high school team in aces/set. That serving continues to stand out in club play.
Taryn Su Taryn Su 5'7" | S Wootton | 2026 State VA (MVSA Charge) – The 5’8″ Taryn shines as another nice setter with good hands and a vicious serve. This MVSA Charge team has done well in tournaments with her sharing the setting duties with Kendall Connors. While she carries the skills to play right side she yields to taller players while operating a 6/2. MVSA Charge has a roster filled with talent and Taryn is adept at bringing that talent together.

Olivia LeBlanc Olivia LeBlanc 5'7" | S Paul VI | 2026 State VA and Hailey Park Hailey Park 5'4" | S Langley | 2026 State VA (VAVA) – The two share setting duties for Virginia Volleyball Academy. Olivia set for a Paul VI junior varsity team that went 19-0 during the season. She hopes her setting opportunities at VAVA will open up a starting spot on the varsity team. Hailey plays for a Langley varsity team who already have two quality setters ( Claire Mo Claire Mo 5'10" | S Langley | 2026 State VA being one of them). This limited her playing time to defense or showing off her strong serve. At 5’4″ Hailey may ultimately fill a role as a defensive specialist. For VAVA she fills the setting role nicely and hopes it opens up increased playing time for varsity. She can cover the court with her quickness.
Sydney Ray Sydney Ray 5'7" | S Riverside | 2026 State VA and Anasofia Zanellato Anasofia Zanellato 6'0" | S Academy Of The Holy Cross | 2026 State VA (Virginia Juniors) – Annasofia set for the Madison varsity team. At the start of the season she normally set from the back row. As the season progressed she began playing more front row. At 6’0″ she can be a presence at the net. Sydney set for the Riverside JV team. In the game I watched Sydney set in the back row while Anasofia set from the front row. With her height Anasofia put down a number of setter dumps while she played in the front row.
