In need to take out the trash? Just toss it up to an outside hitter and watch them turn it to gold. MEQ had some of the best pins on tap from around the country in the 2025 class. These group of pins did NOT disappoint.
Here are some of the top pins coming out of the 2023 Mid-East Qualifier.
Logan Bell – Circle City
Marching all the way to the 16 Open championship, this Circle City group is led by none other than Bell. One of the most defined six rotation outsides you’ll find, she can do it all at a high level. Her consistency in all facets of the game keeps this team in constant rhythm.
Madison Quest – MKE Sting
Need to put the ball away when things get tight? Just lob it up to Quest and she’ll get the job done. The quest this weekend was to snag an open bid to GJNC in July and off the arm of Quest, mission was accomplished.
Kelly Kinney – Tribe
This was my first watch of what this Tribe squad is made of this year and man, did they impress! Kinney is one of the top prospects in the 2025 class and for good reason. I got to see a whole lot more of Kinney than just a left side attacker. Kinney can crush a ball just about anywhere on the court, scoring at a high percentage.
Tekoa Barnes – Tribe
Right alongside her teammate, Barnes is another force to be reckoned with on the pin from Tribe. She can hop out of the gym and I watched her take some really impressive cracks at the ball. When it comes to scoring, Barnes has some of the best vision for open court.
Addison Gaido – Austin Skyline
She’s probably one of the biggest pins in the 16s division this weekend and not a lot of teams had an answer for the heat coming off of Gaido. A superb attacker, Gaido’s blocking came up clutch a lot in Indianapolis, leading her team to a top five finish.
Lily Dee Davis – Austin Skyline
If it’s not going to Gaido on the right pin, Davis is bringing down the hammer on the left pin. You just can’t catch a break with this team, as a defender. Davis was running a lot of different routes this weekend and was scoring at a high rate.
Marie Laurio – Legacy
Laurio is really starting to find her footing out there on the court and she looked good this weekend. Taking on a larger role as a six rotation player with a lot of responsibility in the back court, she does a lot for this team and it’s paying off big time.
Addison Williams – Legacy
Talk about a player finding their footing, Williams being moved to the right side again was the right move! A constant blocking threat out on the right pin, William’s offense was really good during the tournament. She makes the most of her swings and can convert on a lot of balls.
Jessica Costlow – Michigan Elite
This Michigan Elite team is chock full of talented attackers. Costlow is an unsung hero for this squad with all that she brings. Some of the best ball control you can find in the gym, she can also score like nothing else. She’s a player I often say would thrive on the beach. Her cheeky shots and clutch cuts were top tier in Elite’s big run at MEQ.
Isabelle Busignani – Michigan Elite
Busignani is consistently proving she’s one of the top prospects in 2025. She did so again in Indy. Like Costlow, this is one tough cookie to break down in her ball control and a kid that can bring the whip out to score a point.
Gabriella Babinski – Michigan Elite
Like I said MiElite is at no shortage of weapons, each of which are almost guaranteed there time to shine at one point or another in the tournament. Babinski always finds a way. She’s a stout blocker with a growing range of shots in her offense.
Camryn Jeffrey – A5
Another big time opposite, Jeffrey is a player you do not want to see across the net. A leading scorer for A5 Gabe, she has some of the toughest shots in the book at this age and its so hard to defend. Not to mention, at 6’2 and with some hops, she can bring in a gnarly block.
Mariah Gaines – Ohio Premier
I haven’t gotten a view of Gaines since the last time I was in Indy, at Central Zone. Man is she only heating up! I knew she had a hammer for an arm, but MEQ saw Gaines turn the dial up another notch or two!
Addison Tindall – Team Pineapple
It wasn’t the best weekend for Team Pineapple, but Tindall still managed to make a big impression. She does a lot for this team with her coverage in the back court to the offensive prowess she brings at the net.
