When all is said and done, this class may be able to go down as one of the greatest the state has seen.
With a limited rankings list out as of now, there’s plenty on our 2025 Watch List that are making waves of their own.
Here’s a look at what the 2025 Watch List players are doing, starting with A-C.
Lexi Armstrong Lexi Armstrong 5'8" | S Hudsonville | 2025 State MI , S/DS Hudsonville/FaR Out
Armstrong is a very deceptive and athletic setter. She gets high off the ground and is quick in her actions to finish a lot of points as a setter. It also allows her to make a lot of tough sets and keep her offense running at a fast and explosive pace. Armstrong also has a great defensive and serving background to offer a complete package on the court.
Addison Ashley Addison Ashley 6'1" | MB Saline | 2025 State MI , MB Saline/L2
The 6’1” middle was coming off a strong prep season with Saline as a sophomore and is now putting on a strong club season with L2. Ashley does a nice job of mixing up the locations of her attack. She’s able to high-point the ball and use offspeed swings to confuse the defense and blockers. When it comes to her defense, she’s a real blocking force that is able to stifle opposing offenses.
Tina Barnekova Tina Barnekova 5'10" | MB Rochester Adams | 2025 State MI , MB Rochester Adams/Michigan Elite
Barnekova is one of the most intense and athletic middles you will see. She brings a lot of competitive fire to the court and she turns that intensity to very high-powered attacks. She can move around the net very smoothly and quickly, and has shown to have a high finishing rate. You can never question Barnekova’s drive.
Alisiya Boedecker Alisiya Boedecker 5'8" | S Mt. Morris | 2025 MI , S Mt. Morris
Boedecker is coming off a big prep season where she helped Mt. Morris to a D2 quarterfinal appearance. She had a small roster to work with, but brought a lot of positive out of her hitters. She was a vocal leader and had the trust of her teammates with consistent setting and focus.
Alivia Brown Alivia Brown 5'9" | DS/L Temperance Bedford | 2025 State MI , S Temperance Bedford/Legacy
A 5’10” setter that is also able to play RS and has a sound defensive foundation, Brown brings a lot of versatility to the floor. Her setting looks effortless even though she plays the position with a lot of athleticism. She also has a keen eye for when to call her own number, as she’s got that hitting background to rely on. Brown’s serve receive and defense is steady as well, making her a force wherever you need her.
Aubree Calloway Aubree Calloway 5'9" | OH Bronson | 2025 State MI , OH Bronson
Calloway was a big part of Bronson’s prep season, earning Second Team All-State honors in Division 3 for the 2022 season. Another dominant hitter for Bronson, Calloway is an instinctive player that has shown the ability to adapt quickly to every ball that comes her way and still find a home for it. She’s got the big, explosive swing, or the quick redirection to work past blockers.
Mazie Collins Mazie Collins 5'9" | OH Montague | 2025 State MI , OH Montague
Collins has seen varsity action each of her first two years with Montague, showing some growth into a bigger role as a sophomore. Perhaps most noticeable were her gains as a defensive player and a server. Her digging skills looks much improved in the fall of 2022 and she appeared much more confident on the floor. Her serve also was much more challenging and consistent.
Taylor Cook Taylor Cook 5'10" | OH St. John's | 2025 MI , OH St. Johns/MVBTA
St. Johns has to be pretty excited about what they have in Cook. She’s proving to be a six-rotation option to build on. Her athleticism and reaction time have made her a complete player. Cook’s defense is catching up to her offense. Cook can look unassuming, but she can dial up a big swing. Her arm speed is very quick and the angles she’s able to send the ball at make her attacks very difficult to defend.
