This year's edition of the Stock Up was second to none.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We had it all here. The National Champions. The USA Training invitees. Some of the biggest names in Michigan volleyball were on tap for the showcase at UWM Sports Complex. But we also had the fresh faces. The players that caused us to turn our head and go "Who is that?!" We got you covered here!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Up next, we have to talk about the middle blockers at the Stock Up. They're the walls at the net and the quick arms in the middle, the best of the best can be a game changer. That's how these players are! Let's talk about the Top Middles at the Michigan Stock Up Showcase.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='885464' first='Charlotte' last='Keyes'] - Saline/Team Pineapple</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This may be one of the most experienced middle blockers at the stock up despite her youth. [player_tooltip player_id='885464' first='Charlotte' last='Keyes'] is coming off of a huge summer in the club circuit acting as the main middle blocker for the 15 Open National Championship winning team. She's a imposing threat at the net, standing at 6'2. Her block is intense and she can bang away with the best of them.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='1003243' first='Ayla' last='Phelps'] - Davison/Legacy</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1003243' first='Ayla' last='Phelps'] is a player that is surely coming into her own to being a really strong middle prospect in her class. When she can connect with the set, Phelps can put quite a bit of heat on it! She shows comfortability playing in both middle, but also on the pins. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='888953' first='Kennedy' last='Thomas'] - East Lansing/FaR Out</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>By the time its all said and done, [player_tooltip player_id='888953' first='Kennedy' last='Thomas'] may be the middle blocker of the 2029 class. While a bit on the smaller side when talking about the middles, standing at 6'0, Thomas owns the race when it comes to explosiveness and agility in the middle. It's her speed and athleticism that can really put her head and shoulders above her peers (and the net, for that matter). </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='787391' first='Karsyn' last='Ignash'] - Cass City/Michigan Elite</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>If there were to be an award for most improved middle blocker, I think you can't go wrong with giving that one to [player_tooltip player_id='787391' first='Karsyn' last='Ignash']. When Ignash can make a clean contact with the ball, whether it be an attack or on the block, there is no denying her. She comes into the fall moving leaps and bounds in her play with her net work. Ignash looks much more comfortable working pin to pin and speedier in her transition offense.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='1005308' first='Peighton' last='Majors'] - Howell/Dynamite</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of my favorite thing about these showcases is the athletes that come in that you may not hear of. [player_tooltip player_id='1005308' first='Peighton' last='Majors'] is an athlete that was NOT on my radar prior to today. But now, Majors is going to be a player I need to keep my eye on, and I recommend you do, too! While still so raw, Majors has some MAJOR potential. She's quick to the pin and quick off of the net and can play the game at a really fast pace. I wouldn't want to get in the way of her on a quick one.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='775900' first='Suri' last='Ewing'] - Bloomfield Hills/Michigan Elite</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This fall could be a huge season for [player_tooltip player_id='775900' first='Suri' last='Ewing']. While we saw glimpses of her potential last year, Ewing very much showed signs of 'just getting started'. A starting middle as a freshman for one of the best teams in the state and then she goes on to lead her club team to a top finish at AAU Nationals. Ewing's experience is unmatched and it is starting to show in her play.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='1010392' first='Madelyn' last='Cook'] - Lake Orion/Michigan Elite</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another player you need to keep an eye on throughout the next few years. [player_tooltip player_id='1010392' first='Madelyn' last='Cook'] is on track to blossom into quite the middle. Like some others on this list, speed is the name of her game. Cook is a fast player with a growing IQ. She can close the block as fast as the rest and when in the right opportunities can be a force as an attacker.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='932145' first='JoJo' last='Hamway'] - Detroit Country Day/Michigan Elite</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>May this fall very well be a breakout season for this middle blocker. [player_tooltip player_id='932145' first='JoJo' last='Hamway'] has all of the makings of being a dominating presence on the court. Standing at 6'2 and equipped with long limbs, it doesn't take much for JoJo to get up and over and seal the net. Her block is one of the most difficult to get through. Her offense is a evolving part of her game that I am sure will come sooner rather than later. Hamway is an athlete who has been playing up an age group for all of her career, which surely bodes her well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='1011615' first='Katerina' last='Federick'] - Goodrich/FaR Out</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Much like Majors, I love walking into the gym and walking out of it with a new prospect to keep some serious tabs on, and that is definitely [player_tooltip player_id='1011615' first='Katerina' last='Federick']. Again, a very raw presence in the middle, but you cannot deny that athleticism and the potential that you see from Federick on the court. After the fall season, Federick is on top to join FaR Out's top 16s team which is a sign that this won't be the last we hear of her.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='728850' first='Emme' last='Dorchy'] - Royal Oak/Michigan Elite</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wrapping up our top middles at the 2026 stock up, [player_tooltip player_id='728850' first='Emme' last='Dorchy'] enters the chat. This is another middle that oozes potential. From her athleticism moving laterally to the muscle that she can impose onto the ball when she makes a clean connect, Dorchy is a dark horse.
