Although, no crime is actually being committed and the only kills are on the volleyball court. These players feed off each other and make each other great.
MN Select 18-1
There is a trio of 2024s that act as a catalyst for this squad. They have a big front line and phenomenal first contact.
Swenson along with her sister, Olivia, not only play at Wayzata together but they will also head to University of Minnesota together in 2024. They have a love and passion for the game which is evident in their play. Stella is not only offensive but an active defender as well. She consistently jump sets and varies distribution of the ball making her hard to predict.
Caffee and Stella Swenson Stella Swenson 6’1″ | S Wayzata | 2024 State #8 Nation MN have a phenomenal connection. Especially when it comes to running the slide behind the setter. Caffee knows just how to get her feet moving and approaches to the ball. She has a high contact and a fast and terminal swing.
Olivia Swenson Olivia Swenson 6’3″ | OH Wayzata | 2024 State #98 Nation MN loves to put an exclamation point on her sister Stella’s sets. She can place a roll shot to the middle or turn line. Olivia’s go-to lately seems to be using the blockers hands whether just using the top edges or directly bouncing off the sides to send the ball flying out of bounds.
Northern Lights 17-1
This is a group not to be reckoned with. There is so much versatility and athleticism in the group but I’m just going to start with a few of the big pieces.
When Jesewitz gets up early and has her arm waiting she is unstoppable. I can tell she is working on her cross body shot as well as going off high hands. But when she is up early and Maddy Dombek or Audrey Kocon Audrey Kocon 6’2″ | S Mounds View | 2024 State #171 Nation MN put that ball in her hands the play is simply over and hopefully no one got hurt trying to defend it. Jesewitz is the current high profile recruit in the 2024 class we are holding our breath, waiting to see which program she decides to go to.
I love a swiss army knife kind of player and that is Kocon 100%. She can play defense, she is a smart and strategic distributor, and she can terminate. Whether the set is first step or last step tempo she can take care of it and it won’t be coming back. Kocon of course also benefits from the stellar first contact coming from defensive dynamos, Luca Bredenberg Luca Bredenberg 5’8″ | DS/L Southwest Christian | 2024 State #104 Nation MN and Bianca Nistor Bianca Nistor 5’9″ | DS/L Wayzata | 2024 State MN .
SMV 17-1
I caught this group in action at the Show Me Qualifier in Kansas City and they were a fun, gritty team to watch.
Burr has evolved into this really dangerous 6 rotation player that can do just about anything. I say just about because I haven’t seen her set yet but I wouldn’t put it past her. Burr has a phenomenal connection with her setter, Megan Lund Megan Lund 5’5″ | S Rochester Century | 2024 State MN , and when they click they are unstoppable. If Burr is in the front row with Alexis Nelson Alexis Nelson 6’0″ | RS Byron | 2024 MN you may want to head in the other direction because they put up a smothering wall with their block.
