The region also awarded bids to the GJNC in Chicago, and the 15U Division was highly competitive. Dakine 15-1 took home the title and had outstanding setter play. Here is a look at five 2026 setters that made an impact!
Samantha Humphrey
Samantha Humphrey
Humphrey is a talented attacker and setter, and she helped lead Dakine 15 Surf 1 to the Regional title. The 5’9 freshman from Mt. Si has plenty of athleticism and explosion, along with a great connection with Addison Conner Addison Conner 6’1″ | OH North Thurston | 2026 State WA on the outside. As a setter she is dynamic, her jump setting freezes blockers and helps her keep balls out of the net. She will use one hand and deliver a hittable ball to her middle, creating some highlight reel kills.
Mia Matthews
Mia Matthews
Matthews is an excellent defender and has the ability to push the ball to the pin when she is setting. Even working in a 6-2, she was able to record near double digit digs in several matches, and she handled tips and hard shots down the line equally well. Oly Reign 15 Gold finished second, pushing Dakine 15-1 hard in the first set. Matthews has superb location when she is forced to set with her platform. She was able to control tough passes on the run and giver her attackers solid sets to work with.
Bellerive and her Puyallup Juniors squad dropped a three-set battle to Oly Reign in the semi-finals. The freshman from Emerald Ridge moves extremely well on the court, and plays sound defense from the setter spot or as a libero. Bellerive will reverse the flow of the offense with a well located back set, and was really pushing tempo to her outside attackers.
Highlights
Kate Mystkowski
Kate Mystkowski
Mystkowski showed off quick feet, and some crafty attacking from the setter spot. She will turn and push the ball deep to the corner on two, catching opposing defenses napping. A member of the PSR Region Select All-Star Team in 2022, Mystkowski was one of four freshman to play varsity for the 3A State champ Lakeside Lions this past season. She is well coached, and spreads the ball around utilizing the pipe and the slide attack out of the 5-1. Mystkowski has a special connection with middle Lauryn Coleman Lauryn Coleman 6’0″ | MB Lakeside | 2026 State WA , another freshman from Lakeside.
Bowie always plays all out for her SIVA 15-1 South Blue team, and the versatile freshman from Stanwood played a big role in helping SIVA to a fifth place finish. She doubles as an opposite, and has the sweet lefty touch attacking from there or slamming down a tip as a setter. Bowie shows good bounce and the ability to read hitters, she racks up block touches as an undersized blocker on the pin.
