Standout 2025 Setters at CEVA Regionals

Taking place at the Portland Expo center across two days, hundreds of teams took the court to secure their final standing for the season. We were able to see some of the best athletes from Oregon and SW Washington compete and took note of the stellar performances we saw. Crawford has great hands and a soft touch on the ball. That, combined with her quick footwork, helps Crawford place the ball in a great spot for her hitters consistently. Not only are Geymann's sets well placed, but she is also a smart setter who makes good choices on which of her attackers to set and when. Hawk moves seamlessly around the court to get her hands on nearly every pass. Combining nice hands with a soft touch, Hawk places the ball perfectly with each set, and she jump sets effortlessly and with great precision. Despite that change in the line up, McGehee played incredibly well during Regionals, showing her athleticism and consistency as a setter. Getting her feet to every ball, McGehee jump sets effortlessly to push the ball to either pin from anywhere on the court. Mieren Sorenson uses quick footwork and a soft touch on the ball to place it well for her attackers, making smart sets throughout matches. Due to there being several injuries on her OJVA 16-1 team, Mitchell ran a 5-1 throughout the tournament weekend. Despite that change in the team's offense (where, normally, Mitchell runs a 6-2 alongside [player_tooltip player_id='161822' first='Jackie' last='Carle']), Mitchell played excellently. Morrissette is an athletic, strong, and high-level setter who led her NPJ Salem 16 National team to a 10th place finish at Regionals in Open. She is skilled at pushing the ball from pin to pin across the court, throwing off opponents' defense. She is super quick, which helps her get to nearly every ball. With a soft touch and an effortless jump set, Schnell also has a great connection with each of her attackers, which helps her run her offense smoothly. Schnell is a strong defensive player, too, staying disciplined at base and making plays off hard driven or hard-to-reach balls.
