Continue ReadingThe class of 2024 will showcase multiple top-ranked prospects at the Emerald City Classic over Memorial Day Weekend. 10 of the top 21 players in the current class of 2024 Prep Dig Rankings will be on campus at UW competing in the 18U Divisions. The top four setters in the rankings will all be on hand, along with the #1 overall libero. The tournament offers an excellent chance to see many of the top players compete head-to-head as they fight to lead their teams to a top finish.
Kelly is the #5 overall ranked player and #1 libero. She has committed to Kansas State and plays with the WVBA 18 Adidas team that is seeded #1 overall in the 18 Open. Kelly is as dynamic and gritty as they come, and her commitment to a Big 12 Conference program is a testament to her talent and work ethic.
Highlights
Etter has been a part of a scrappy CPA Drew 17 team having an excellent season, including a third-place finish in the USA Division at the Salt Lake City Showdown. The Boise State commit was out at the Evergreen Regionals with an injury and the Emerald City Classic will be her first return to action since Salt Lake City.
Highlights
The Biola commit has a towering contact point and is difficult to stop when she is on a roll. SIVA will be searching for the top spot in the 18 Club division and have the talent to make the final on Monday. The 6’3 Shumate is always a threat to finish off a team with her ability to be terminal from the pin.
Eichert is leading a WVBA 16 Adidas team playing in the 18 Open. The 2024 setter has soft hands, a great volleyball IQ and is super competitive. Her calm decision making against teams with older players will be critical in the squads success.

A recent Eastern Washington University commit, Moran has been the go-to player when her NPJ Seattle National team needs a huge kill this season. She is long and skilled and still has room to grow and develop both as a player and become physically stronger. Moran’s best volleyball is certainly still ahead of her.

Rice has committed to Biola, she will be able to continue her special connection with club and high school team mate Ashley Shumate Ashley Shumate 6’3″ | OH Lynden | 2024 State WA . The Lynden setter is very good, when in a 5-1 she glides across the front line, jump setting everything and is always a threat to slam down a kill on her own.
Cervellera is fun to watch, her team depends on her to score and she takes big rips on her swings. If she is coming out of the pipe it’s not going to be a safe ball at the setter, she is going to hammer away. Cervellera goes all out on every play and has great energy and emotion for SNVF, and her team has the talent to compete with any team when they are in the groove.

Several NPJ Seattle players are high in the Prep Dig Rankings for 2024, including Lewis. A very athletic pin, at her best Lewis can slice and dice a defense with her hang time, heavy arm and smart tips. Good vision allows her to work around and off the block for kills.

Shay-Chang does a wonderful job saving her team points, pulling back passes that are tight to the net, and running down the second ball with her fast feet. Her feet and hands work together, she can be on a dead sprint and still set a ball with great location. The Central Washington commit leads the NPJ Seattle 17 team with a positive attitude, and a quiet intensity
Martin plays on the WVBA 18 Molten team, and they are a strong #1 seed in the 18 Club Division. She is gritty and does an awesome job setting the team’s tone from her libero position. She has an expansive range covering tips, get down low to dig out big swings and can take a large part of the court in serve receive. This is an excellent WVBA 18 team competing in the 18 Club, Martin will play a big part as they push for a first place finish.
