2023 GJNC Wisconsin Preview: 15s Division Part 1

<!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">15 National </h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Sting 15 Gold</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Sting 15 Gold has been building up huge momentum this season. When I saw them at the Prep Dig Resolution, their potential was ready to burst. And now, they are absolutely dominant. They won the Prep Dig Gauntlet, beating some incredibly high-level teams that are also in the National division, including 1st Alliance 15 Gold and Circle City 15 Purple. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Some key players on this team include defenders [player_tooltip player_id='249647' first='Cassidy' last='Bruns'] and [player_tooltip player_id='277424' first='Siena' last='MacCudden']. Both are talented enough to play at the libero and across the back row. Cassidy is scrappy and gets a touch on every ball. Siena has great ball control and reads opposing offenses well. Both play at a high level. Setters [player_tooltip player_id='277423' first='Ella' last='Kohnen'] and [player_tooltip player_id='249644' first='Brooke' last='Baldwin'] never miss a beat. Many times they will both play all six rotations. They have high volleyball IQs and keep the offense running consistently and efficiently. Middle hitter [player_tooltip player_id='249665' first='Kennedy' last='Tisdale'] impressed me at the Gauntlet with her powerhouse swing and quick movement across the net. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Sting 15 Black</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This team made quite the impact when they beat Sting 15 Gold in the championship of the Badger Region Qualifier. They have had a very solid season, including placing 5th at the Windy City National Qualifier, 3rd at Central Zone Invite, and 9th at President's Day Classic in Saint Louis.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Setter [player_tooltip player_id='249633' first='Anya' last='Mikhailenko'] was very impressive at the Gauntlet. She can set and swing and is an energizer and impact player. [player_tooltip player_id='277426' first='Kaylee' last='Harder'] also sets and has really clean form. She is an athlete I remember noting at the Resolution who really impressed me again at the Gauntlet. [player_tooltip player_id='277427' first='Claire' last='Wyma'] is an up-and-coming right side who makes very few errors and places the ball well. When she gets a dime set, she is not afraid to rip the ball. [player_tooltip player_id='249688' first='Sylvia' last='Wargolet'] is a pin hitter that makes a huge impact on the court. She has a massive vertical and is quick and explosive in everything she does. [player_tooltip player_id='249624' first='Addison' last='Bruns'] and [player_tooltip player_id='249651' first='Emily' last='Zgonc'] are both fierce defenders in the back row. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">15 Liberty </h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>FC Elite 15 Navy </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>FC Elite earned this bid by placing 2nd at the Windy City Qualifier. This team is gritty and has huge potential. I cannot wait to see them impress at nationals and as they continue to grow in the sport. [player_tooltip player_id='277431' first='Evelyn' last='Lorge'] is an athlete that has caught my eye numerous times. She is a lefty right side with a big jump and a high contact point. She is big in transition and knows how to manufacture points. Setters [player_tooltip player_id='249687' first='Sydney' last='Neilitz'] and [player_tooltip player_id='249636' first='Ava' last='Van Hammond'] are both very talented and run the court well. Pin hitter/defensive specialist [player_tooltip player_id='249692' first='Zoe' last='Wockenfus'] is versatile and will excel no matter where she is on the court. [player_tooltip player_id='249639' first='Braelee' last='Kiepert'] is a talented pin who has a lot of potential. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Sting 15 White</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This Sting team has had a lot of success this year. They won the Liberty division of the Windy City Qualifier, won Central Zone Invite, took 3rd at MEQ, and the list goes on. They are scrappy and don't make a lot of errors. Libero [player_tooltip player_id='284067' first='Kiley' last='Eske'] is an energizer on the court. She gets behind nearly every ball that comes her way. [player_tooltip player_id='284069' first='Elizabeth' last='Kwiatkowski'] is a setter to watch in this class. She has great form and makes good decisions. She is an athlete on the rise. [player_tooltip player_id='249650' first='Emily' last='Frank'] is a pin hitter who gets the job done.
