All brought different strengths to the court and some really shined.
Here’s our take on what we saw from this group of 10 on Saturday.
Cameron Clement Cameron Clement 5'5" Belleville | 2025 MI , DS/L Belleville/Team Detroit
Clement was a technically sound defender. Her positioning was solid and she did a good job of looking the ball into her arms for a smooth pass during serve receive drills. She has a quiet demeanor about her, but you can tell she has a competitive spirit, as she battled hard to dig out some big swings throughout the showcase. Clement can improve a little in her communication and leadership skills. She’s got the talent and shouldn’t be afraid to take command.
Korin Hutton Korin Hutton 5'7" | S Anchor Bay | 2025 State MI , S Anchor Bay/Michigan Elite
There’s a lot to like about Hutton and the energy she brings to the floor. She has a positive attitude that is really contagious. As a setter, she’s great with her communication and direction. Hutton can run a smooth offense and get the hitters the ball where they need it to succeed. She’s also a hustle player on defense and isn’t going to take a point off.
Mallory Johnson Mallory Johnson 5'9" | S Livonia Churchill | 2025 State MI , S Churchill/Force
Johnson was another player that really gave her all to make a play. While having a lot of setting skills, it was her defensive plays that really turned some heads during the showcase. Johnson made one of the most impressive plays I saw all day when she did a full sprawl to save a point and kept her squad in a point. As a setter, she applies that hustle to being in good position and not getting complacent in a long rally. Johnson just needs to keep building on her touch and locations and mixing in a little aggressiveness when the defense opens the door for her.
Ramya Johnson Ramya Johnson 5'1" L'Anse Creuse North | 2025 MI , DS/L L’Anse Creuse North/Crank It
Johnson has the hustle that fits the libero position. She keeps a positive attitude throughout, even when an attack gets by her. She shakes things off quickly and moves to the next point, where she usually succeeds. Johnson appears to be someone that takes well to her coaching and instruction, which will bode well as she looks to have a breakout prep season. All she needs to do is to continue to improve on her reaction time and be able to anticipate those big swings quicker and quicker.
Madelyn Krappmann Madelyn Krappmann 5'10" | OH Everest Collegiate | 2025 State MI , OH Everest Collegiate/Unified
Krappmann was hard to miss, as she was putting on a show throughout the event last Saturday. She was able to go toe-to-toe with any other hitter at the showcase in regard to power, consistency and accuracy. Krappmann has a natural feel for the position from an offensive standpoint and isn’t lacking in confidence. She also moves well defensively and made some solid plays there as well. As she continues to fine-tune aspects of her game and mixes in some more challenging shots, Krappmann is going to be tough to stop.
Sharayna Luckie Sharayna Luckie 5'2" | DS/L Lutheran North | 2025 MI , DS/L Lutheran North/GLVC
Luckie had a lot of energy and that was evident from the start of the showcase. She shows a lot of passion and desire to be great. The intangibles are there, as Luckie has quickness and good reaction time. Where she had some lapses is when she was just a little over-active and over-aggressive. When she settled in and let the play come to her, Luckie was on point. In a showcase, it’s easy to want to dial up the intensity, but Luckie just needs to trust in her skills and find consistency. Her effort will pay off as she continues to make good choices.
Hanna Pardon Hanna Pardon 5'9" | OH Ortonville Brandon | 2025 State MI , OH Brandon/High Performance
Pardon brought one of the most powerful swings to the showcase. She consistent put a lot of pop on the ball and generated a lot of power with her arm swing. She also wanted the ball in high-pressure points during the showcase, which is an important trait for outsides to have. As she continues to work on her defensive play and instincts, Pardon can become a real dynamic option for her squad.
Tamerah Peterson Tamerah Peterson 5'4" | DS/L Parkway Christian | 2025 MI , DS/L Parkway Christian/Volleyball Elite
Peterson showed a very balanced game. She looks to be a solid all-around athlete that has settled into a defensive role. When drills brought her to the net, she actually held her own quite well and showed some impressive instincts. At 5’4”, Peterson was able to explode off the floor and challenge hitters and blockers. Her serve also was challenging for her peers to handle. As a defender, Peterson applied that athleticism with quickness to get to her spots and a few impressive dives to the ball. It would be good to see her also display a little more outward confidence on the floor.
Cali Stevons Cali Stevons 5'6" | S Dewitt | 2025 State MI , S DeWitt/MVA
Stevons makes the setter position look pretty stress-free, even though she has a lot to do on the floor. She’s steady and looks very calm and in control. Her patience keeps her teammates calm as well, as she was able to get a lot of impressive swings out of her peers. Stevons’ calm play also applies to her defensive ability, as she gets herself in the right spot and makes the plays that need to be made. She doesn’t rush and stays technically sound.
Aubrey Zuvers Aubrey Zuvers 5'8" Adrian | 2025 MI , RS Adrian/Highstreet
Zuvers unfortunately suffered an injury early in the showcase and didn’t get a chance to really compete in full scrimmages with her peers. When she was taking part in the early drills, Zuvers displayed a lot of good fundamental skills in all areas of the game. Her passing and serve receive was crisp, her attacks were consistent and avoided errors, and her serve brought good velocity across the net. She made what she good out of sets that weren’t quite accurate as well. Hopefully her injury won’t keep her off the floor this fall, as it appears she has a well-rounded game that could be a nice boost for Adrian.
