There were around 60 prospects on the court during the event held at the Texas Tornados club, coming not only from H-Town, but also from several other cities in the Lone Star State, such as Austin, San Antonio, McAllen and Corpus Christi, and it was a highly competitive, yet very fun atmosphere.
Fellow Prep Dig scout Mallori Howington, myself and the court coaches were paying attention to everything and were pleased to see many prospects standing out with their strong play. We’ll spend the next few days highlighting them and here are some more names we’d like to give a shoutout:

Sampson was one of the standouts at the setter position and she was able to display several interesting aspects of her game during the event. Her technique and ball control stood out from the start and during the match-like drills it was possible to see how well she uses them to run her offense. Sampson did a very good job of using all of her hitters and was probably the most accurate and precise when it came to integrating the middle back set into the offensive system. She also showed good production from the service line and when playing defense.
Rud was easily one of the most powerful hitters on the court on Saturday. Very strong and physical, she displayed a potent and efficient offense, which combined power and excellent decision-making. A very complete hitter, she did well on the left and the right, displayed some interesting resources on both sides and was always very confident, continuing to swing after mistakes. Rud was also solid with her passing and defense and will be a very good option for Cy Ranch in the upcoming high school season.
Highlights
Trevino was a well-known face after the last club season, but it was fun and interesting to see her in a different environment. Her energy on the court was the exact same as always, giving everything in every single point and pushing her teammates up and cheering them after every play. Her ball control was spot on all day long and she did well defensively even when faced with some of the most powerful hitters of the showcase. Trevino was always very consistent, keeping the same high level in every drill she took part in.
Highlights
Kareem was a new face to me and she made a really good impression with her play in the middle. She was excellent in the hitting drills, combining excellent footwork and a quick and heavy right arm and maintained the high level as the event progressed. Middles were highly demanded in the showcase and Kareem was able to keep her energy high until the end. She also displayed great reading of the game and interesting blocking skills during the match-like drills.
Highlights
Zamora made a long trip to Houston, coming all the way from McAllen, and made a very good impression during the event. She worked with all sorts of hitters and adjusted to each of them seamlessly, displaying a very high volleyball IQ. She also moved really well on the court, quickly getting to the ball and did a very good of accurately getting the balls to her pins. Besides her consistency, Zamora also stood out on defense and for always showing a positive attitude on the court and engaging with her teammates.
