Over the past few days, we’ve kicked off our preseason all-state teams with Class A, Class B, and Class C1. That still leaves three more left on the docket, and our run through the second half starts now.
Here’s our preseason all-state team for Class C2.
Hanel leads off our all-C2 team, and it wasn’t a hard to decision to put the Clarkson/Leigh attacker on this list. She has been one of the state’s most prolific scorers since the dawn of her prep career. There was no letdown when the Patriots moved up to Class C2. Hanel’s hybrid role as a middle blocker and a pin hitter will make her a must-see senior.
Like Hanel, Helzer has been making headlines since she was a freshman. Her debut season ended in Oakland-Craig’s first state volleyball title in school history. Helzer has elevated her game since then and compiled over 400 total kills last fall.

Here’s another returning attacker from Class C2’s “400-kill club.” Tietjen was a formidable terminator for Thayer Central last year and took over 1,000 total swings over her junior season. She’s due to hit 1,000 career kills this year, too.
Beethe has shown she’s ready to take the next step for Johnson County Central. She’s fresh off an extraordinary club season with Nebraska Juniors and posted an impressive 3.8 kills per set as a freshman. So, Beethe becomes one of the few underclassmen to make our preseason all-state teams in any class.
Archbishop Bergan’s frontcourt leader is back for one more season. Frickenstein is a transformative outside hitter who now has experience in multiple state championship matches throughout her career. Efficient scoring will be her mantra again before she continues her playing career at Midland.
Highlights
The defending champs are on the board. Wohlgemuth is ready to inherit a large share of Lincoln Lutheran’s swings as the most experienced pin hitter in the lineup. Her offensive production isn’t the only factor in her all-state selection, however. Expect Wohlgemuth to remain one of Class C2’s best servers and a constant contributor to the Warrior defense.
Let’s get one more Oakland-Craig superstar in the mix. The Knights clearly boast some impressive returning talent, and it’s all tied together by Rennerfeldt at the setter spot. The rising junior led all C2 players last year with 1,159 assists and 10.3 assists per set. Rennerfeldt has also seen as much in-match experience as you can possibly get at this point in your prep career. It’s a good omen.
Clarkson/Leigh returns to the discussion with Hollatz boasting some impressive totals last year. She was the other C2 setter to average over ten assists per set alongside Rennerfeldt. The Patriots also get some lockdown right-back defense when Hollatz rotates to the end line.
Class C2 has another underclassman honor. It’s hard not to include Hengelfelt after she guided Cross County to a state tournament appearance as a freshman. Talented setters have a knack for changing the dynamic of a team when they enter the lineup, and that’s what Hengelfelt accomplished last year.

So, now we’re on a run of 2026 setters. Class C2 is building something special, and it’s also welcoming a new powerhouse to the club this year. Norfolk Catholic joins the fray from Class D1, landing Wattier on our all-C2 list. This brilliant setter may also make her presence felt as a frontcourt attacker this year, expanding the sophomore’s overall impact.

Our #1 overall player in the Class of 2025 has to be on this list. Leimbach’s list of personal accolades keeps growing, but she’ll be most focused on hauling in another state championship trophy with Lincoln Lutheran this fall. The future Cornhusker plays outstanding floor defense and is a brilliant secondary setter when she’s not taking the first ball. Get ready for another standout season as Leimbach embraces a new role as a veteran leader.
Bojanski has been Archbishop Bergan’s “floor general” for a long time. She picks up digs in places that opposing attackers see as open court. Those instincts have yielded some of the best defensive statistics in the state, and Bojanski has one more season to show why she’s still one of C2’s best.
