We are taking wins/losses, rosters, tournament finishes, and much more into consideration. Let’s take a look at who gets the nod for the top high schools across the Golden State.
Top 10 California High School Teams
6. Redlands HS – The Terriers are currently 8-0 on the young season and have some serious ballers on their roster. Super Senior Julia Tolstova Julia Tolstova 5'11" | OH Redlands | 2024 State CA who is ranked 35th overall in her grad class is leading the way offensively. She is leading the team in kills with 91 on a very impressive .303 hitting efficiency. While normally a stud libero in club, Junior outside hitter Saniyah Sobers Saniyah Sobers 5'6" | DS/L Redlands | 2025 State CA is second on the team with 71 kills. She is playing six rotations and uses her expert ball control to help the team stay in system. Junior Lauren Reiter is doing most of the ball handling dishing out 127 assists in only 18 sets played so far. She has a strong frame and the ball comes out of her hands very smoothly to the pins. Sophomore Ava Reyes has the libero duties and is leading the team in digs so far. Middle blocker Diana Castro has her sights set on repeating as conference champs for her senior season. This team did well last year and are going to look to reach the state playoffs once again.
7. Cathedral Catholic HS – The Dons are currently 7-2 on the year but have played some awesome competition so far this season. They finished of last year as one of the top teams in the entire nation last season. After graduating a few top attackers, many have wondered if they could repeat as champs. They have some serious ballers that have the torch passed to them. Junior outside Mae Kordas Mae Kordas 6'3" | OH Cathedral Catholic | 2025 State #113 Nation CA is a load at the net. Junior libero Maya Evens Maya Evens 5'6" | DS/L Cathedral Catholic | 2025 State #50 Nation CA is our 7th overall ranked player in her grad class and the top libero. She is the ultimate competitor and if anyone can lead a team to greatness it will be her. Senior Nikole Egan Nikole Egan 5'9" | OH Cathedral Catholic | 2024 State #197 Nation CA is ready to light up the stat book and be the go to hitter for this squad. She is ranked as the 9th best overall prospect in her grad class. Senior right side Tiana Owens Tiana Owens 6'0" | RS Cathedral Catholic | 2024 State CA is a show-stopper on the opposite position. Senior Middle blocker Jenna Hanes Jenna Hanes 6'3" | MB Cathedral Catholic | 2024 State #76 Nation CA is a six foot three monster in the middle who is already committed to Michigan. Senior setter and DePaul commit Amanda Saeger Amanda Saeger 5'11" | S Cathedral Catholic | 2024 State #125 Nation CA is ranked as the 12th best overall prospect in her grad class and is ready to lead this team back to the promised land.
8. Los Alamitos HS – The Griffins are currently 8-2 overall on the young season and are playing very well as of late. Outside hitter Ashley Repetti Ashley Repetti 6'0" | OH Los Alamitos | 2025 CA is palying amazing at the net both offensively and defensively. As an attacker she is able to score down the line also, which opens up the court for her. Middle Elon Milroy is blocking very well for this wonderful squad. Super Sophomore Brynn Minter Brynn Minter 6'0" | OH Los Alamitos | 2026 State CA is one of the stud outsides leading the way offensively for the Griffins. She is superb at finding holes in the defense and scoring at will. The 5’11” point scorer looks to be great for this squad for the next few years. Right side Katy Foley Katy Foley 6'0" | RS Los Alamitos | 2025 CA is playing well and scoring quite a bit for the Griffins. I like the way that Sammy Maxwell is distributing the ball to all of her hitters. This will help them stay balanced during the attack and it should help them stay competitive against any defense.
9. Huntington Beach HS – The Oilers are currently 5-3 on the year but are on the rise as of late. Senior outside hitter Haylee Lafontaine is a lengthy weapon on the pins. Junior Amika Swanson does it all at the net for Huntington Beach. She can block with the best of them and this helps their defense a ton. I like how she is able to move fast laterally along the net to close the block. Senior setter Lyndsay Harris can play in the back row and the front row if they need her to. She is not afraid of anything and provides a lot of energy for their squad also. Two of their losses stem from one of the nationally ranked high schools out of Texas during the Ann Kang Invitational tournament in Hawaii, but other than that, they are solid. This team is battle tested and ready for war.
10. Sierra Canyon HS – The Trailblazers are currently 9-3 on the season but have played a tremendously tough schedule to open the season. This squad is lethal because they have a very balanced attack from a variety of players. They are led by highly touted freshman Hanna McGinest who cannot be stopped offensively. She has a tough arm that can light up the scoreboard in a hurry. 6’2” Senior outside hitter Danica Rach Danica Rach 6'2" | OH Sierra Canyon | 2024 State #106 Nation CA can throttle the ball from any location. She is a point waiting to happen out of serve receive for the Trailblazers. Senior middle Madeline Way is leading the team in hitting efficiency. Her production on the team is invaluable since she is so dominant while blocking also. She is the total package and will likely be a tough player for opposing teams to match up with as the season progresses. Junior libero Lauren Lynch has been nothing short of spectacular for Sierra Canyon in the back row. Her serving and defense are a big reason of why they are competitive. Senior setter Sade Ilawole Sade Ilawole 5'3" | S Sierra Canyon | 2024 State CA is state ranked for a reason. She has been through the ringer for the last few years and knows what it takes to win.
