Several setters stood out at Saturday's Kansas/Missouri Stock Up Showcase. Their versatility stuck out to me, when they went through hitting, serving, and defensive drills. A couple of different courts during wash games and play ran 6-2 offenses to showcase some of the wide variety of talents the setters possess. Several times I had to double-check my roster sheet to make sure their primary position was setter! Here is a look at a few that stood out during wash drills and competitive play:

5'8” Class of 2026 setter [player_tooltip player_id='224847' first='Paige' last='Lattimer'] out of Blue Valley West and plays club for MAVS 816 16-1. She is a dual threat as a setter and a defensive specialist. Lattimer does a fantastic job of playing defense first and not releasing too early in her setter role. She has great leadership and communication on the floor which in the showcase situation can be a challenging task and uncomfortable. Great hands and her ability to better the ball make her really effective in the setter position. Paige ran through some great balls to continue plays on Saturday. This shows her ability to read hitters and play defense. She also has a hard float serve. Keep her on your radar as a setter or a defensive specialist!

Class of 2027 setter [player_tooltip player_id='434374' first='Kya' last='Behr'] from Great Bend High School and plays club for Central Kansas Rampage. Behr brings a lot of positive energy and hustle to the floor. She distributes the ball well for a freshman and has a really strong back set, that right sides were having a hay day with. Behr also did a fantastic job of running through balls on defense as well. Take note of this upcoming freshman!

Saxony Lutheran High School and Perryville Volleyball Academy 17 Gray Elite Class of 2025 5'7” setter [player_tooltip player_id='230387' first='Isabel' last='Brown'] is quick, has great hands, and distributes the ball well across the net. She is definitely not afraid to hit the court to play floor defense. Last fall for the Crusaders she averaged 5.8 assists per set for a season total of 579. She also chipped in 43 ace serves. Brown too, is a great defensive setter as she was second on her team in digs with 265. Love her versatility! Take note!

An upcoming 2027 5'7” setter [player_tooltip player_id='403141' first='Sophia' last='Estes'] from Nixa High School and 417 Juniors 15 Elite has great hands and is super quick out on the floor. She has great court awareness and is an offensive threat by her sneaky ability to setter dump. She also has a nice serve which hangs in the air for a while and is hard to judge. This young setter has a high ceiling, watch out for her to have a breakout freshman season.

Another 2027 setter is 5'7” [player_tooltip player_id='446318' first='Harriet' last='Dean'] from Jefferson West High School and plays club for Topeka Saints. She has fantastic hands and is super fast on the court. Dean also distributes the ball well for a freshman. Dean is versatile too and can pound the ball from the right side. Look for her to be a great addition to a 6-2 offense if you need both a setter and hitter. An overall great athlete, who is loaded with talent. Look for her to be a dual threat this fall during her first high school season!
