The Cougars have an undefeated 7-0 record and are ranked second by the computer RPI and tied for third in the coaches rankings. (located here: https://www.wsvbca.com/general-5) Cascade Christian handled both of their league contests without being pushed in week 3, and the Cougars may not see a tough match until the playoffs. The team overall is young, with just two seniors on the roster. The Nisqually League will be dealing with this tough squad for a bit!
Dent is a difference-maker playing six-rotation outside for the Cougars. At 6 foot 2, she is a difficult match-up for most teams, and she can experience scoring from the pipe against high level club competition. Dent is a tough server, and a go-to for the Cascade Christian setters when they need to find an option in an out-of-system situation.
Fortenberry has good footwork and can run down a second ball to put up a solid set for her attackers. She has a particularly good connection with Walling and is finding her in one-up situations allowing her to swing with abandon. Fortenberry is a low error setter who sends out a clean ball to her attackers, she will be critical in finding Walling and Dent in good matchups as the team gets deeper into the season.

Grace Zetterberg
Grace Zetterberg
The sophomore to junior jump is real, and Zetterberg has delivered this season for the Cougars. A year after earning all-league honors, the 5’10 MB is leading the team at the net as a blocker and hitting an impressive .462 for the season. Zetterberg has tremendous timing when she is aggressive on an over pass, and the athletic ability to run pin to pin and put up an intimidating block.
Janho has been on some big serving runs already this season, and is impressive hustling on defense to keep plays alive. She shines in serve receive, taking more than her share of the court and easily handling short serves to deliver good passes to the Cougar setters. Janho is the leader of the defensive effort for the team along with Walling, making every point a battle for opposing offenses to score.
Walling has a big arm when she rotates out of the setting position and transitions into a dangerous attacker. The sophomore stand-out can pound a kill with authority, using a quick and forceful approach to generate power. Walling can also attack out of the pipe and has excellent control and location with her swings. Her high-level beach experience makes a difference playing defense, Walling reacts quickly and can go down and dig out hard swings and off-speed shots. The 5’7 prospect is physical and strong, she can push a set to the pin or go up and win a joust against a taller player.
