The Oregon class of 2024 has thoroughly impressed over the past few years. Despite all the talent, there are still several high-level players who have not yet committed to a program. Here are some of the top unsigned athletes in the class of 2024 that you should be keeping your eye on.
Adamo is a weapon from the middle, using her quick arm swing to pound the ball into the corners of the court. She has a fast approach, often powering the ball down before opponents can get a block up. Defensively, Adamo jumps and reaches high to put up a solid, formidable block.
Arnett, a six-rotation outside hitter, is an exceptionally athletic, dynamic player. She has a super explosive, powerful swing, and she has a wide hitting range, swinging cross court and down the line with ease. Arnett consistently plays an instrumental role, both offensively and defensively, for every team she is on.
Brown is a top notch setter, with a soft touch on the ball and a quick release to place each set perfectly for her attackers. She is strong, able to push the ball with ease from one pin to the other, and she is hard for blockers and defenders to read. Brown is also a natural leader on the court.
DeTrant, a setter and right side hitter, brings so much fun energy to the court. She does an excellent job of getting her hands on every ball when setting, and she has great court vision. When attacking, DeTrant is quick and smart, getting up high and putting the ball deep into the court or making a play to score.
Ezell is a talented all-around player. As a setter and right side hitter, she can practically do it all, swinging hard cross court from the right, reading the court well, and placing each set with ease. Ezell is very quick on her feet, too, and on defense she shows discipline and consistency.
Lewey, a lefty setter, does a great job of setting against the grain and pushing the ball from pin to pin. She moves the ball around effectively, keeping big blocks away from her attackers. Lewey is quick and gets her hands on each ball with ease, and her set placement is consistent.
Makua is a talented libero/defensive specialist, often commanding the back row of any court she plays on. Makua is a super steady passer on serve receive, putting up practically perfect passes on any serve that comes her way. On defense, she uses her quickness and fast reaction time to make incredible plays.
McKibben is a phsyical player. A six-rotation outside hitter, McKibben is a powerhouse from the left pin, hitting around the block expertly and moving her shots out of reach from defenders. From the baseline, McKibben has a formidable jump float serve, which proves challenging for opponents to pass.
Nguyen is an incredibly versatile player, able to set and run a quick offense, or play libero/defensive specialist and control the back row effortlessly. She showcases quick reactions on defense and isn’t afraid to fly around the court to keep the ball in play. Nguyen also has a wicked jump float serve.
Highlights
Pappas, a setter and outside hitter, is exceptional in both positions. As a setter, she gets to each pass quickly to place her sets well. From the pins, Pappas is a consistent and effective attacker, swinging high off of blockers’ hands to score. With a powerful jump float serve, she is also deadly from the baseline.
Highlights
Peterson is a weapon from the middle, both when attacking and blocking. She gets up super quickly and jumps high, pounding the ball straight down or deep to the corners in every play she runs. When blocking, Peterson does an excellent job of tracking the ball and pressing on the net to stop opponents’ offense.
One of the top liberos for the class of 2024, Street is a force to be reckoned with from the back row. Street flies around the back row effortlessly, making incredible plays and consistently keeping the ball alive. With Street’s discipline on serve receive and her fast reactions on defense, it’s nearly impossible to get anything past her.
Highlights
Williams is a high level setter who jump sets each ball with ease, places her sets perfectly, and runs a quick and tough offense. She has great court vision, which she uses to move her sets around well and keep opponent blockers on their toes. A lefty, Williams is also a weapon in the front row when blocking and hitting.
