We asked coaches, fans, teammates, and opponents to send us their shout-outs for athletes who played impressively during the month of September. We will be highlighting several of those athletes, starting with the class of 2024.
Running a 5-1 once more for West Linn, Doel has been an amazing leader for her team over the past four years. She has notched an impressive 336 assists on the season so far. Doel also currently leads her team in aces with 31 total and is second on her team defensively with 118 digs.
Mish has taken on a new role this season, setting for Wells in several rotations. She brings such a positive energy to the court, and she’s a natural leader, taking charge from every position she plays. Mish is an excellent utility player and can play solidly from nearly every position.
Highlights
Nguyen was nominated by multiple people, a testament to her impressiveness as an athlete. She currently leads the St. Mary’s team with 202 digs and 44 aces so far this season. Nguyen puts her all into the game every time she steps onto the court, and she consistently impresses other coaches and opponents with her solid play and her leadership.
Highlights
Hitting from the middle for St. Mary’s, Pernsteiner has had so much growth this past year. With her heavy hand, Pernsteiner is tough to slow down. So far this season, she’s notched 130 kills, 34 blocks, 33 digs, and 17 aces, showing her all-around talent on the court.
Rylee Pihl
Rylee Pihl
The Glencoe libero, Pihl takes control of the back row. She brings tons of energy to the court and is always hyping up her hitters. Pihl averages 14 digs per match; she is also a consistent out-of-system setter and puts her hitters in perfect situations to terminate the ball.
Clara Stanley

Returning to the court after having gone through a recent knee injury, Stanley is playing solidly from the outside. She leads Philomath in kills with 109 total so far this season. Stanley also leads her team in serve receive with a 2.21 average, and in digs with 121 total.
Walker, who was recently named OSAA Athlete of the Week for her performance against North Salem, is a versatile six-rotation outside hitter with an impressive attacking arsenal. Walker is a Sonoma State commit and a co-team captain for Tigard. A dual athlete, Walker is also an excellent high jumper, a skill that translates very well to her volleyball game.
Highlights
Co-captain and four year varsity athlete for Central Catholic, Williams has taken reins as the Rams primary setter. Transitioning from running a 5-1 to a 6-2, she has taken on the new role with grace and humility. She has racked up 205 assists and is incredibly productive from the front row as a blocker, with the 2nd most blocks on the team at 19. Although not setting all around this season, Williams is an asset in all six rotations.
