Top 250 Expo Iowa: Sophomore Outside Hitters

<p>This class is full of talent and was a pleasure to watch at the Top 250 Expo that was held in Iowa. Six of the athletes below play for teams that went to the state tournament in 2023 for volleyball so there is plenty of skill here. Western Christian had a great year winning the Class 3A Championship in November. Bliek played in every set for them and ended her season with 2.4 KPS, 2.8 DPS, 32 aces, and a 93% serving efficiency. She has a long reach, great vertical, and an understanding of the game hard-earned through years of play. She has a good platform, an anticipatory movement to get to those hard-to-reach balls, and a never-quit attitude. Bryte is a powerful hitter with a great approach. She has a great platform, is quick to the ground playing defense in the back row, and is a good blocker. She is good with out-of-system balls and can make something with nothing on the court. Jemison is a portrait of accuracy, power-hitting, and grace. She is very fast and athletic and will chase down errant balls to make them playable for a point. Lloyd was the top hitter for her high school team in 2023, she was also the 2nd highest in digs with 2.9 DPS and had the most aces with 32 for Sioux City North. She has a lot riding on her shoulders and looks absolutely capable of carrying it. She has a great vertical, a good reach, and a powerful swing. More important than that is her thinking ability on the court. She knows her opponents and plays to her strengths against them. At the expo, she displayed her ability to hit, serve, dig, and block. North Scott are Class 4A state champs and Moeller had plenty of playing time with them this season. She is a powerful hitter and blocker. She can tool it off a block or go cross-court to the corners. She is very court-aware and knows where her best option is to get a kill. (Rob Howe/PrepDig.com)</figcaption></figure>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='320104' first='Presley' last='Myers']</h2>   <p>Myers is a 6'2" outside hitter from Holy Trinity Catholic High School. Holy Trinity Catholic lost the Class 1A state championship to Ankeny Christian and Myers played every set with them for the 2023 season. She had 3.0 KPS at a .325 hitting efficiency, 78 solo blocks and 126 total blocks, and 47 service aces with a 93.9% serve efficiency. She is quite a special athlete and is so powerful it is impossible to miss her on the court. At the expo, she was all over the court and hit with so much power and accuracy she was quite impressive. She has a great block and can hit through most she faces. In the 2023 high school season she had 5.9 KPS (600!) with a .341 efficiency, 4.1 DPS (409), and 60 aces with a 94.69% serve efficiency. Holy Cow! She is so good! She has a great vertical and just so many smarts on the court. It is very difficult to defend against her because she has so many skills she can pull on to outplay you. She is a superb athlete! ADM went to state with a team full of juniors and seniors and eventually lost in the quarterfinal match against North Scott. Person has a great vertical and is a smart hitter who can tool it off a block or get a touch for a kill. She is quick on defense and can be a 6-rotation player if needed. She has a great platform, strong hands with great control, and a good blocker. Schluter had 2.2 KPS in her sophomore season with Humboldt in the 2023 season and will be more utilized in her next couple of high school seasons. She is an amazing hitter with tons of power. She has a great vertical, great platform, and is a great server. She is very smart on the court and seems to know where everyone is so that she can be the most effective hitter on the court. She is a good defensive player as well and is effective in the back row too. She serves aggressively and with accuracy making the most of her opportunities for an ace.
