I am very excited for some of the athletes in this Part 2 article who have been on our radar for a while and have made moves recently in their play. These athletes have continued to improve and impress consistently over the years, and it has shown!
Isabella is a physical and athletic middle who has really established herself as a powerhouse in this position. Her physicality, fearlessness, and heavy hand on the ball really set her apart. She makes great adjustments on the court and has a quick reaction time on defense. She moved from 50th to 39th in the rankings.
Highlights
Grace is one of those players who is continuously working hard and improving every aspect of her play. I remember seeing her at the Sizzle as a freshman and noting to keep an eye on her. Then every club and high school season since, she has impressed in a different way. Recently, she has impressed me with her decision-making and tempo. She is aggressive with her choices and isn’t afraid to get offensive in the right moments. She improved from 53rd to 44th in the rankings.
Ava is an incredibly selfless and versatile player who does whatever is needed to help her team. Need her to set? She will dish out dimes. Need her in the back row? She can play in any spot. Ava’s consistent and confident serve receive has stood out to me recently. She is very scrappy on defense, and her experience as a setter helps her put up great out-of-system balls. Ava jumped from 54th to 51st in the rankings.
Highlights
Braylin is a scrappy and explosive libero with a clean platform and high-level footwork. She consistently makes big plays and fearlessly throws herself in front of the toughest balls. She is an athlete who checks all the boxes as a libero with great form, good court awareness, and smart play. She improved from 55th to 47th in the rankings.
Amara is an athlete who caught our eye numerous times in the past year. She has really elevated her game, especially how dynamic she is across the front row. Amara is a threat on both offense and defense and has a keen eye for open spots on the court. She jumped from 60th to 57th in the rankings.
Ava made quite the jump in the rankings from 63rd to 52nd. Her court awareness and reaction time have been at the forefront of her improvement. She has always made great touches on defense, but they are finding the target more and more often against tougher hitters. Not only has she kept pace with the faster offenses but she has also improved the non-tangibles of her game.
Highlights
Kalyn is a player who knows how to earn points. She is reliable in tight matches to make big plays. Kalyn takes an explosive approach and is fearless with her swings. She isn’t afraid to take risks and be aggressive, which helps her make momentum-changing plays. She jumped from 65th to 58th in the rankings.
Charlette is no stranger to the hard work it takes to be a high-level setter. She consistently works every aspect of her game and puts herself in as many new and dynamic situations as possible. Where she really impressed me was the Nationals Showcase. She connected with hitters from across the country and made it look like she had been playing with them for years. That is no simple feat for a setter. Charlette improved from 66th to 53rd in the rankings.
Highlights
Madelyn is another setter who is consistently improving every aspect of her game. She had a huge club season last year with Sting 16 White and was on the All-Tournament Team at nationals. Now she is on Sting 17 Black and will play at an even higher level. Madelyn is consistent, aggressive, and athletic and moved from 68th to 65th.
Sylvia is fast and athletic. She jumped from 72nd to 67th in the rankings. Her ability to make smart choices on the move and execute well-placed sets really set her apart. She sets against the grain and pulls opposing blockers with her jump set. Sylvia runs a very fast offense for Kettle Moraine and has taken on a big role in their program.
