It was three days of volleyball held at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, Missouri, February 17-19th. Hundreds of teams, thousands of players, family, friends, and fans made that trek through good and bad weather to watch and be part of great competition. There were so many familiar and unfamiliar names and faces. Triple Crown NIT was a great platform to see players in their element, finding those hidden gems that we can showcase and share. Meet six players below who may or may not be familiar names on this platform being recognized as some of the best of the best.
Jordyn Wilson
Jordyn Wilson
Jordyn Wilson is playing up a year and she fits right in with her team. Coached by Cassie Strickland and Randy Post, Wilson plays a pivotal role in the team’s offensive strategy. Positioned on the right side of the court, Wilson possesses a combination of athleticism, power, and precision. She is tasked with delivering strong attacks from the right side and outside, capitalizing on opportunities to score points for her team. Beyond her offensive skills, she plays a crucial role in defense, utilizing her blocking skills to disrupt the opponent’s attacks. Her versatility and ability to contribute both offensively and defensively make her an indispensable asset to her team’s success, providing balance and depth to the lineup. Keep an eye on Jordyn Wilson as she continues to grow in the sport.
Sarah Ng
Sarah Ng
Sarah Ng is a volleyball defensive specialist and a crucial player on the team. Coached by Jacob Spain and Nicholas Honrada, Ng specializes in the art of defense. She showed her exceptional agility, quick reflexes, and impeccable digging skills on the court. Her primary role was to receive serves, dig opponent’s attacks, and initiate defensive plays, allowing her teammates to set up offensive maneuvers. She did just that. She possesses a keen understanding of the game, reading the opponent’s movements and anticipating their hits with precision. With lightning-fast reactions and a fearless attitude, Ng is the backbone of the team’s defense, capable of turning opponents’ powerful spikes into opportunities for her team to score. I am putting Sarah Ng on the radar.
Kennedy Cooper
Kennedy Cooper
Kennedy Cooper as a middle blocker holds a key position in the sport, essential for both defense and offense. Coached by Steven Wesley and Lillie Redmond, her height, agility, and timing allowed her to jump and reach high to block incoming attacks from the opposing team. Cooper can consistently shut down the opponent’s hitters, disrupting their offensive plays and providing a strong defensive presence at the net. She possesses exceptional speed, timing, and jumping ability to execute these quick attacks with precision. She transitions quickly between offense and defense, making plays at the net. I am putting Kennedy Cooper on the radar.
Ella Paniagua Ella Paniagua 5’11” | OH Rosary Academy | 2025 State CA is an outside hitter who is also proficient at serving. That type of skill is valuable and can significantly impact a game. Coached by Jeffrey Ornee and Michael Ma, Paniagua is a strong outside hitter who can deliver powerful and accurate hits, both with her kills and shots. She has good arm swing mechanics, timing, and the ability to generate a lot of power behind the ball. She is very versatile in her offensive game. She can execute a variety of shots, such as cross-court hits, line shots, tips, and roll shots, to keep the opposing defense guessing. She can time blocks effectively to disrupt attacks. Paniagua combines physical athleticism, technical skills, and mental toughness to excel in both the offensive and defensive aspects of the game. Kirah Harris Kirah Harris 5’9″ | RS Warren | 2027 CA possesses a combination of physical and mental attributes, as well as technical skills, that make her effective in her role. Coached by Kathleen Joy McKienzie, Tim May, and Sabryn Roberts, Harris she is agile and quick on her feet. This makes it easy for her to move into position for hitting, blocking, and playing defense. She reacts quickly to the ball and will adjust her positioning as needed. Harris understands the game and can make split-second decisions. This includes knowing when to tip when to swing away, and how to exploit weaknesses in the opposing team’s defense. She is good at communicating, motivating, and supporting her teammates. Ella Landa
Ella Landa
Ella Landa’s skill, decision-making ability, and leadership qualities were essential for her team’s success. Coached by Yvette Ybarra, Maria Olilang, and Tamia Cephus, she played a crucial role in orchestrating the team’s offense by setting up the ball for attackers to score. Her setting involved precise placement and timing to deliver the ball in a way that optimizes the hitting opportunity for her pins. She had to make split-second decisions based on the trajectory of the pass, the positioning of blockers, and the readiness of her teammates. Ella Landa will only get better as she continues to excel in the sport.
