Eleven of our top 20 play the pins and of those seven have already committed to play college, two playing for big ten schools. In addition, three of the top 20 not listed as a pin, Caleigh Ponn Caleigh Ponn 5'6" | DS/L Hidden Valley | 2025 State #83 Nation VA , Isabelle Bardin Isabelle Bardin 6'3" | S Flint Hill | 2025 State #121 Nation VA and Ava Dickerson Ava Dickerson 5'11" | MB Warren County | 2025 State VA played a pin for their high school team. Ava Dickerson Ava Dickerson 5'11" | MB Warren County | 2025 State VA even won player of the year honors for her District playing left side but returned to the middle for Blue Ridge .
Below are some of the top pins from the class of 2025 in the DMV area.
Lameen has committed to Georgia Tech. With the departure of Emerson Sellman Emerson Sellman 6’4″ | OH Academy of Holy Cross | 2024 State #5 Nation VA she takes over as the offensive force for Metro 18. The fact that they have appeared in the gold bracket in every qualifier they have played in is a testament to her ability to create an offense. Whether it is front row or back row she can put some velocity on the ball. When you have an approach jump that reaches 10’6″ hitting over the block becomes that much easier. Last year there were times when she experienced passing break downs, but you accept those for the offense she creates in the back row. No surprise that at the Capitol Hill Classic she earned the MVP award for her offense. She also won player of the year in high school for the Concorde District.
Leni has committed to Michigan. Early in her career she began as a middle. In my opinion she could hit the quicks better than any middle in the area. She converted to outside with a move to Metro a couple years ago. There were some early struggles getting used to the higher sets but with more repetition became greater consistency. Her approach jump also reaches 10’6″. The conversion to outside also happened at Langley where her hitting led the Saxons to the Class 6 state championship last year. She can play six rotations, though Metro will rotate her out in the back row for a defensive specialist.

Ema has yet to commit, but weighing her options. She swings left handed but can hit left side. Her best position for attacking appears to be right side. When she plays club she hits both right side and left side, but also plays back row and is used as an attacker there. When playing for her high school Richard Montgomery she sets a 6’2″ and hits on the right side. She won player of the year for Montgomery County after leading the Rockets to their first state championship. In the finals of the high school state championship match she finished with 22 kills, 16 assists and 11 digs, a triple double.

No surprise that Ana committed to James Madison. That is where her parents went to school. When Ana gets in a zone there may be no better outside hitter in the area. She teamed with Leni on the outside to give Langley the Class 6 Virginia State championship. She plays all six rotations for both Langley and Virginia Elite. Her approach jump of 9’8″ may not reach the level of Lameen or Leni, but she more than makes up for that with a long arm extension. She has also inched to 6’1″. That is her pictured above (number 11).
Alexis Ewing Alexis Ewing 6'3" | OH Bullis | 2025 State VA (Bullis/Metro) – With the loss of Emerson Sellman Emerson Sellman 6'4" | OH Academy of Holy Cross | 2024 State #5 Nation VA Metro needed an impactful outside to replace her. They called on Alexis Ewing Alexis Ewing 6'3" | OH Bullis | 2025 State VA , the daughter of Patrick Ewing. Alexis has vastly improved her game over the years to beome an impactful player. She has more confidence in her game which brings more consistency in her attacks. I have not seen her back row play this year, but last year it showed improvement. Virginia Juniors gave her opportunities, but when the score got into the late 20s a defensive specialist normally came in for her. She definitely brings a long arm extension to her swings and at 6’3″ she flies high above the net. Alexis has committed to Penn State.
Jada has committed to Lafayette. Her left handed swing makes her one of two right sides to appear on this list, though Ema Djordjevic Ema Djordjevic 6’0″ | OH Richard Montgomery | 2025 State VA rotates between left and right side. Jada plays with emotion. There always seems to be a little extra effort in her play. With her on the right side Georgetown Day has won back to back DC state championships. Last year she led her team in kills and blocks. She tends to be limited to playing three rotations, but given the opportunity and her work ethic it would not surprise me that she could convert to six. It would be nice to have that left arm attacking from the back row.

Ada plays for the powerhouse West Virginia high school Musselman. Last year she led the team in kills as they fell short of the state championship, finishing second to Morgantown. Ada also led the team in blocks, finished third in digs and second in serve reception. She provides offense from both the back row and front row for both Musselman and Blue Ridge . Ada was voted the West Virginia volleyball player of the year by Maxpreps. Loyalty and friendship remain important to her and one of her teammates she communicates with, Hannah Howard plays at UMBC.

Berkeley Konrady Berkeley Konrady 6'1" | OH Millbrook | 2025 State VA (Millbrook/ Blue Ridge – Ada and Berkeley are 1a and 1b at Blue Ridge . Berkely at 6’1″ has the greater height and could be physically stronger. Both play six rotations. The duo allows Blue Ridge to rank in the top 100 nationally (65) according to Advanced Event System (AES), finishing in the top three in five of the tournaments they have played in and fifth out of over 60 teams in the Capitol Hill Classic. Berkeley won first team honors in the class 4B Region as well as the Northwestern District. She has recently committed to William and Mary.
Simone recently switched over from middle blocker to outside. Last year she played for Riverside, her outside play taking Riverside to an undefeated season, until they lost to First Colonial in the finals of the class 5 state playoffs. At 5’11” moving to the outside should benefit her. Unfortunately, playing time was limited at Paramount with at least five pin hitters and three middles on the roster. She does bring an approach jump that reaches 9’8″. Simone earned a spot on the Class 5 second team all state. With more repetitions on the outside she will be a tough player to stop.
Highlights
Evelyn stood out as a one woman army for West Springfield. At 6’2″ she attacked from the front and back row, earning her a first team slot on the class 6 all state team. For Virginia Elite she plays right side. At one point early in her career she was listed as a setter but having her available for offense in six rotations proved too valuable. Her approach jump records at 9’8″. She has come a long way since she was a 5’9″ setter/outside hitter for Mojo Elite 11. Evelyn has committed to the University of New Hampshire.

Madison is home schooled so she does not play high school volleyball. That does not stop her from being an impact player at Metro. At the Capitol Hill Classic she earned the honors of top attacker. Madison impresses with her all around game. She plays a solid back row in both the passing and defensive area. She also is dangerous in the back row as an attacker. She also plays smart, hitting the ball to the deep areas of the court. Others can try to hit the ball in front of the 10 foot line for the statement kill. Madison takes satisfaction in achieving the results. She has committed to Brown University where she will be teaming up with a number of Chesapeake alum (Jilienne Widener – Metro, Kate Sheire – Metro, Ella Park – Virginia Juniors, and Gabby Derrick – Metro).

Ava lists as a middle on the Blue Ridge roster. For her high school she played outside and won player of the year for her district and the first team class 3 All State. At 5’11” you would think she would be short for a middle. However, she does not seem to have any problem putting away higher two sets in the middle, hitting the ball left or right and putting it to the floor against taller middles. Blue Ridge even used her at times in the back row to keep her offense in the game. Don’t know where she finds the time, but she also plays a little basketball for Warren County. Ava has yet to commit.

Honorable Mention
She ranks fourth in our class of 2025. At 5’6″ she plays libero for North Carolina VB Academy. However, on the Virginia high school volleyball circuit she may be the most prolific outside hitter in the area. She led Hidden Valley to the Class 3 state championship, finishing the season with 649 kills, the second most in Virginia. Overall, she needs just a little over 250 kills to achieve the 2,000 mark while at Hidden Valley. So while she lists as the top libero in our class of 2025 she could also fit in as one of the top pin hitters as well. Caleigh has committed to Kansas State.
