Over the past couple of days, we’ve featured GJNC-bound players from Nebraska’s Class of 2027 who can compete at multiple positions. Of course, the 2027s aren’t the only group loaded with versatile players worth watching.
On to the 2026s. The recruiting period is about to open, and the positional possibilities are endless.
South Central NE 16 Black has constantly redefined ‘versatility’ while maintaining its multi-year hot streak. Bauer adds to this adaptability by adding depth at middle blocker and right-side hitter. Her primary role with 16 Black has been at opposite, but Bauer has also been a dominant force in the middle at Desher High School. Even as South Central NE shuffles its lineups from match to match, Bauer and her team are finding new ways to claim the spotlight. GJNC is the brightest spotlight of all, and this group already knows how to perform under this pressure.

Our first look at Andel came on the prep side with David City High School. She tallied triple-digit kills as a freshman and elevated those totals even further in Year 2. However, Andel takes on a completely different role with South Central NE as one of the team’s two setters in the 6-2 offense. Her pin-to-pin distribution was a key factor in 16 Black’s bid-earning performance at Kansas City’s Show Me Qualifier. Even if she’s not lighting up the kill column on the club side, Andel’s versatility makes her one of Nebraska’s most fascinating 2026 prospects.
Put Liebentritt at either pin and watch her dominate. She first entered the 2026 spotlight as a physical right-side hitter who could overpower opposing blocks. Premier 16 Black eventually decided to harness this terminal ability on the left side, allowing Liebentritt to take as many swings as possible in any given match. Liebentritt has responded to this challenge by becoming one of the team’s best offensive weapons. A dominant outing at the Great Plains Region Bid Tournament has set up Liebentritt and 16 Black for more gains on the biggest stage. We can’t wait to watch it unfold.

We’re always excited to cover athletes who can be terminal hitters and game-changing defenders–all at the same time. Olsen brings this skill set to Premier 16 Black and has been one of the team’s indispensable “glue players” for multiple years. She can don the libero jersey and lead the passing formation from any zone. And, if needed, Olsen can play a completely different six-rotation role as a left-side hitter. This Bennington athlete does a little of everything, and her team has set a high bar heading into the summer finale.

Svendsen has found new ways to lead the charge for VCNebraska 16 Elite. She has mostly been known for her high-impact game at middle blocker, where Svendsen is a go-to in-system attacker. Though this could be seen as her native position, Svendsen also had stints at both pin positions throughout the 2024 season. The mid-March qualifier grind showed us that Svendsen is not just a single-position standout. We’re anxious to see which combinations VCNebraska will deploy as GJNC inches closer.

Kuhlmann’s designated position largely depends on whether it’s the fall season or the spring. Her sophomore campaign with Wilber-Clatonia was a reminder of how effective Kuhlmann can be on the outside. Her pin-hitting prowess put her among the state’s leading scorers in the 2026 class. Kuhlmann is still a high-volume scorer with VCNebraska 16 Elite, but she gets it done in the middle for this group. 16 Elite is not afraid to draw up some unique routes to showcase Kuhlmann’s range and quickness along the net. It worked wonders at the GPR Bid Tournament.

We’re reminded of one of the biggest storylines surrounding Premier 16 Gold: pin lineups are fluid. This is especially true with Lamb and her hard-hitting counterpart, Hayden Liebsack Hayden Liebsack 6'1" | OH Bennington | 2026 State #108 Nation NE . Lamb seamlessly jumped between the left and right pins this year and offered a ton of firepower in both spots. The Omaha Westside prep star has mastered her footwork in these roles and can anchor any block along the net. After a runner-up triumph at the Show Me Qualifier, Lamb and 16 Gold will likely keep up their mix-and-match approach for GJNC.
We have to include the 2026s in this, too.
