The month of May is a quiet period so do not expect any Division I college coaches at the East Coast Championships in Pittsburgh. However, there will still be some talented teams playing in this tournament whose rosters are filled with quality players worth watching who fly under the radar. The ten players named below bear watching at the East Coast Championship.

To qualify as under the radar a player must fall below the top 20 rankings. Of course, for the class of 2025 fifteen of the top twenty have already committed. Next, some under the radar players from the class of 2026 playing in the ECC.

[player_tooltip player_id='309030' first='Corinne' last='Howard'] MVSA (middle/left side) - Most people who watch MVSA are familiar with [player_tooltip player_id='235748' first='Ema' last='Djordjevic'], the left side hitter who is ranked number five in our class of 2025. Ema's Richard Montgomery teammate [player_tooltip player_id='309030' first='Corinne' last='Howard'] (#22 in above photo) is also a player to watch. Early in her athletic career she focused more on basketball. It has only been in the last few years she has started playing volleyball at the travel level. At 5'11" she may be undersized for a middle, but when you watch her hit she can do some damage. During the Rockets championship run she was third on the team in kills and second in blocks. Corinne ranks at number 26 in our class of 2025.

She stands next to Corinne in the picture above (number 16). She led the Rockets in blocking. It appears she lists now at 6'2u0022. A multi-sport athlete who also participates in the high jump reaching a vertical jump of 29u0022. That would give her an approach jump of over 10 feet. A service academy might pique her interest. Perhaps one of the more valuable players on the MVSA team. She ranks 63 in our class of 2025.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-664ad5bf6e226"} /-->

At the start of the season when Madison tried to rotate three middles for two spots that left one offensive player on the bench. When they moved Riley to the right side the team went on a winning streak. Not only did the offense improve but the defense benefited from the improved blocking. For Virginia Juniors she mainly blocks middle. She runs the quicks well on offense, hitting the ball from a variety of locations. Riley ranks 21 in our class of 2025.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-664a1c1c9e028"} /-->

[player_tooltip player_id='434859' first='Gabriella' last='Prather'] Maryland Juniors (Middle) - At 6'3" she certainly brings some height in the middle. She only began getting serious about volleyball when she tried out for her volleyball team as a frosh. With just two years under her belt she already can reach 10 feet with her vertical. Her middle blocking got Reservoir to the semi-finals in the Maryland state championship where they ultimately lost to the eventual state champion Richard Montgomery. Gabriella sits at number 41 in our 2025 rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='479336' first='Gretchen' last='Brady'] South River (middle) - At 6'2" Gretchen is another tall middle that makes an impact with her blocking. Her middle play got Leonardtown to the finals of the Class 4 Maryland State championship where they also lost to Richard Montgomery. As stated in an earlier post about her, she brings leadership, positivity and athleticism to the court. South River will play in the Select Division. Gretchen ranks at number 64 in our class of 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='235327' first='Jenna' last='Hathaway'] Virginia Volleyball Academy (setter/right side) - Last high school season Jenna set for Independence High. At 5'10 she stands tall for a setter. She led her team in assists but also finished third in blocking and third in kills. For VAVA they appear to use [player_tooltip player_id='242039' first='Michelle' last='Kim'] in a 5/1 so Jenna plays right side. Jenna ranks number 76 in our class of 2025.

When the season started Aubrey seemed to see much of the playing time at middle. When you are 6'0u0022 with her athletic abilities you can see why she played. Another player who did not get serious about playing volleyball until her frosh season in high school. Still a lot of upside in her game. Aubrey ranks at number 43 in our class of 2025.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-664a1c1c9e0e8"} /-->

Before you make that conclusion you must watch her play. Both in high school and club I have seen her hit at critical moments and come through in the clutch. She has a fire in her gut and is certainly not afraid to swing hard no matter how close the game, accepting whatever consequences result. For the most part the results are usually good. Taylor was second on her team in kills for Briar Woods. For VAVA she swings from the left side. Positive vibes only from Taylor. She ranks number 51 in our class of 2025.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-664a1c1c9e140"} /-->

[player_tooltip player_id='483590' first='Rania' last='Lahbibi'] [program_tooltip program_id='494491' first='DMV' last='Elite'] (left side) - Another player you need to watch in the Select Division. It may be worth a look. At 6'0" she brings some good size to the left side. She played a lot of middle for Rock Ridge last season but saw some time at both pins. She finished second on her team in kills but first in blocks. For [program_tooltip program_id='494491' first='DMV' last='Elite'] she has a tendency to spray some balls deep because of an early approach, or does not follow through with her hit in an attempt to keep the ball in. When the timing clicks the potential talent screams out with the possibilities. The more she plays at the pins the more fluid she will get. Rania ranks at number 42 in our class of 2025.
