The AAU national tournament rolled on this week with action in 15U and 16U. It led up to the 17U portion of the schedule, which tips off on Tuesday.

Here's a look at 17U Iowa teams competing in Orlando:

CIA 17 Black, Open Division

I watched this team compete multiple times throughout the winter and spring. It split a pair of three-setters with [program_tooltip program_id='431948' first='Iowa' last='Rockets'] 17R at regionals.

[player_tooltip player_id='508686' first='Jada' last='Smith'] from Waterloo West is a dynamic hitter for CIA. She helps out elsewhere, including defending the net and back row. [player_tooltip player_id='215405' first='Audrey' last='Tschiggfrie'] stands out as a versatile performer capable of setting, hitting and defending.

[player_tooltip player_id='215398' first='Alexie' last='Hogan'] shines in the back row, [player_tooltip player_id='508649' first='Brooke' last='Krogmann'] is an imposing middle blocker, [player_tooltip player_id='215400' first='Ava' last='Paige'] delivers as a setter and [player_tooltip player_id='215401' first='Ava' last='Salvo'] is another versatile contributor.

[program_tooltip program_id='431948' first='Iowa' last='Rockets'] 17R, Open Division

Like CIA 17 Black, Rockets 17R boasts enough talent for a successful run at nationals. The latter is bringing firepower at all positions.

The versatility and all-court contributions of [player_tooltip player_id='215434' first='Emmy' last='McComas'] complement her teammates well. Northern Iowa commitment Sophie Buysse stands out as one of the state's top liberos.

Solon's Grace Irwin and [player_tooltip player_id='215430' first='Yasmine' last='Sell'] excel as two-way players at the net. [player_tooltip player_id='215429' first='Asta' last='Hildebrand'], a St. Cloud State commitment, ranks as one of the most well-rounded setters among Iowa preps.

Iowa Select 17 Mizuno, Premier Division

This squad definitely could make some noise in the land of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. It's flush with some high-end talent from the eastern part of the state.

Dubuque Hempstead's [player_tooltip player_id='508685' first='Addi' last='Wright'] is one of the state's best under-the-radar performers. She's capable of chipping in all around the court and is super consistent.

[player_tooltip player_id='215760' first='Gabriella' last='Ragins'] from Pleasant Valley is a flexible front-row performer, and Assumption's [player_tooltip player_id='215761' first='Ellie' last='Schubert'] can set with the best of them. Bettendorf's [player_tooltip player_id='179121' first='Adalyn' last='Galbraith'], a Truman St. commitment, provides power at the pin, and [player_tooltip player_id='538937' first='Olivia' last='Hoskins'] is sound in the back row. [player_tooltip player_id='538938' first='Anna' last='Roling'] is an underrated outside, and [player_tooltip player_id='215764' first='Katelynn' last='Toft'] is a strong two-way middle.

[program_tooltip program_id='431948' first='Iowa' last='Rockets'] 17-1, Premier Division

It speaks to the depth of its program that [program_tooltip program_id='431948' first='Iowa' last='Rockets'] is fielding teams in the top two divisions at AAU nationals. The 17-1 outfit won the Silver division at the Iowa regional.

Setter [player_tooltip player_id='221340' first='Taylor' last='Ray'] has dished out 1,934 assists in her three seasons at Cedar Rapids Prairie, and Lauren Brohm of Pleasant Valley handed out 702 last year. [player_tooltip player_id='730801' first='Callie' last='Huber'] is an efficient two-way player in the middle, while [player_tooltip player_id='523160' first='Lily' last=''] Bergren can contribute in multiple spots. [player_tooltip player_id='261072' first='Hargun' last='Kaur'], Joslyn Mehaffy, Gabby Morales and [player_tooltip player_id='447583' first='Reise' last='Neuhaus'] are among the top players at their respective high schools.

Iowa Select 17 Brian, Club Division

Laina Brehmer helped North Scott win a state championship last season in a reserve role, while Mallory Deutmeyer served as the setter for the Lancer sophomore team. Washington's Taylor Miksch brings versatility to the court

Dubuque Insanity 17-1 National, Classic Division

Kaylee Walter holds down the back row for Insanity as she did for Wahlert in '23, when she produced 326 digs. Beckman's Juliana Bennett and Rebecca Goerdt, and Nodaway Valley's Izzy Eisbach, add more Iowa flavor to this squad.
