SoCal Freshman Showcase 2024 - Top Performers

The recent Prepdig Freshman Showcase in Southern California featured a very talented group of ninth graders. High-level play and fast-paced drills provided the girls with various opportunities to showcase their skills for college coaches and Prepdig scouts.   Many talented players were in attendance, but the following individuals truly stood out during the showcase. Here are Prepdig Nevada's Top Performer picks:    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2024/07/IMG_2167.jpeg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-578366" /></figure>   The first thing you'll notice about Ameira is her incredible vertical leap. She had one of the highest, if not the highest, verticals at the event. She uses this to her advantage, getting on top of the ball and hitting it hard over and between the block. Ameira stood out throughout the event in drills/team games and had great communication skills. Hardin was a great teammate and consistently performed at a high level. She is sure to be a valuable asset to her high school team. Her jump sets were precise, and the hitters were loving every bit of it. She made excellent decisions during the fast-paced games, skillfully disguising and varying her sets between hitters. Her back-sets were immaculate, and she surprised opponents with a few well-timed dumps. Gardenhire was an exciting player to watch and is poised for a stellar high school season.   Addisyn will be attending Frontier High School.      <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2024/07/IMG_2174.jpeg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-578369" /></figure>   Saylor was one of the top hitters at the showcase, consistently impressing with hard hits during drills and six-on-six matches. She proved to be one of the few true pins capable of hitting equally well on both the outside and opposite sides. Using her height to her advantage, Saylor dominates at the net both offensively and defensively. Along with her high-level skills and volleyball IQ, she brought high energy and a positive attitude throughout the event. Though she primarily played pin, her athleticism and versatility allows her to play any front row position effectively.  She will be a valuable asset to her high school's varsity volleyball team. Standing tall with a great vertical leap, she consistently brings energy to every play. Her ability to adjust to sets and still secure kills showcases her adaptability and skill. Aylee excels at the net with powerful hits and well-timed blocks, especially on the right side. She proved herself to be a promising pin in the California high school volleyball circuit. She recently made her varsity volleyball team, proving that her hard work and dedication to the sport has paid off.  Aylee will be attending Agoura High School.      <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2024/07/IMG_2177.jpeg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-578371" /></figure>   Devyn stood out immediately during early warmups and drills. Her powerful swing and knack for finding gaps in the defense commanded attention. She was one of the hardest hitters in the gym and adapted well to any set given to her. She also showcased solid passing skills in the back row, excelling in both serve receive and defense. During team games, she consistently delivered, keeping the overall team energy high. It's no surprise, but still a remarkable achievement, that Devyn made the varsity team as a freshman. Her high vertical and strong swing enable her to beat blocks or hit through them effectively. She consistently showcased her ability to read the defense and adjust her attacks, making her a threat on the court. Additionally, Kylie demonstrated excellent footwork and agility, allowing her to cover the court well and contribute defensively. Her performance highlighted her as a well-rounded player who will undoubtedly be a key asset to any team she plays for. In fact, she recently made her high school's varsity volleyball team.  Kylie will be attending Etiwanda High School.      <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2024/07/IMG_2175_57111d.jpeg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-578373" /></figure>   I had the opportunity to watch a lot of Liliana's performance in the back row during six-on-six games. She excelled in serve receive, consistently making accurate passes that set up good plays. Her defensive skills were equally impressive as she dug some incredibly powerful hits, showcasing her agility and quick reflexes. Liliana maintained excellent form, holding her platform steady and getting the ball to the setter with high accuracy. She has a bright future in volleyball.  Liliana will be attending Marymount High School.     All of these players have the potential to be added to California's 2028 rankings when they are eventually released.
