Danika ranks number 20 in the class of 2027. An extremely polished setter, she set for her varsity team as a frosh as well as her club team playing a year up. Not only did she just set, but she set a 5/1. Great hands, great hustle and knows how to play defense. She was second on her high school team in digs. Shows great tempo with the middles, even though she was seeing them for the first time.

I love a setter whose feet are flying high every time she sets the ball. While this may bring a blocker up, it also helps with the timing for quick sets in the middle. At 5'10" Genevieve brings some height to the position. For Columbia she sets a 5/1 while for her high school she appears to set the traditional 6/2, staying in the front row for offense. While her rank sits at 88 expect it to rise after her performance at Stock Up.

I watched her at the Las Vegas showcase and came away impressed. She continued to impress at the DMV showcase. She shares the setting duties with [player_tooltip player_id='325403' first='Annabelle' last='Kim'], who earned a top performer award at the show case held last year. Soft hands and moves well for the ball. At 5'6" it would not surprise me to see Heritage run a 6/2 this year.

She jumped out at me playing for Academy in the Patriot Division at the Nationals in Las Vegas. She showed aggressiveness in her play, not afraid to swing hard at the ball. Watching her play at the DMV Stock Up she still showed that same aggression, even against some of the top players at the event. Currently, she is not ranked, but that should change after seeing her play, both at the Nationals and the DMV stock up showcase. She shows no fear to put a whacking to the ball regardless of who is blocking on the other side of the net.

[player_tooltip player_id='483129' first='Louise' last='Z Atiz'] (RS 2026 6'0", Westfield/VA Volleyball Academy)

One advantage of the showcase is it gives the players some exposure. Up until this point I had not seen Louise play, except watching her video. She stands tall for a right side at 6'0" to 6'1" and swings left handed. The ball comes off her hand hard. She started the showcase ranked 96 but after her performance that should rise. If she can improve her jump, work on that arm extension and whip that arm fast through the zone she can be a difference maker.

[player_tooltip player_id='475397' first='Amaya' last='Bowles'] (OH 2026, 5'6" Dominion/[program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''])

Amaya stands just 5'7". Currently, she ranks at 143 in our class of 2026. Despite that smaller stature she shows a great ability to hit the ball when in the front row. Dominion carries a number of smaller, but effective pin hitters. Based on what I saw she plays a solid back row as well. The biggest challenge for a small hitter in the front row is their ability to put up a good block. Amaya could work her way into a defensive specialist role who can also provide back row offense. Those type of players are becoming more popular on the volleyball court. Despite her short stature Amaya can play the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='438086' first='Emmeri' last='Bishop'] (OH 2027, 6'2" Hedgesville/[program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'])

The Midwest has risen in the volleyball world because they seem to grow these rail thin 6'3" volleyball giants with long levers that can whip their arm through a volleyball. Emmeri reminds me of that type of player. She played for [program_tooltip program_id='494409' first='Blue' last='Ridge'] last year but attends Hedgesville high in West Virginia. Watch for her to start making an impact. She brings a number of skills to the court, some of which are not associated with taller players.

[player_tooltip player_id='437457' first='Jasmin' last='Tucker'] (OH 2027 6'0"St. Paul's School for Girls/Metro)

This is a photo of Jasmin winning top performer last year at the debut Prep Dig event. I told her that I wanted to give other girls an opportunity to earn top performer awards this year. Jasmin will always be considered a top performer in my book. She took that performance last year to a number 12 ranking in the class of 2027. She plays for Metro with three players voted as top performers this year, [player_tooltip player_id='437441' first='Hunter' last='Ross'], [player_tooltip player_id='469197' first='Olivia' last='Garey'] and [player_tooltip player_id='478903' first='Barrett' last='Bolter']. Metro 15 ranks as the top team in the Chesapeake Region. They finished 11th at the Junior Nationals in the National Division. A lot of talent on that team.
