The first rankings of the Illinois Class of 2027 are out! With this being the inaugural list, there are going to be misses. I spend a lot of time on the 15s and 16s courts during the club season as well as verifying plenty of information through other recruiting websites, hudl, and social media. These athletes at the top of the Class of 2027 are leading the way. Some of them will be high on the national radar as well. Let's take a look at the “Super Seven” of the Class of 2027 in Illinois.

[player_tooltip player_id='529824' first='Peyton' last='Heatherly'] is the number one prospect in the Illinois Class of 2027, but what makes her one of the best? She is an elite level setter and an elite attacker. She was a key piece for the 1st Alliance 15 Gold team in 2024 where she was a setter/right side combo player, getting an invite to NTDP, and showing she is among the best in her age group. There is little weakness to her game where she has an impact with everything. She can defend, set, score points, and has such a positive vibe among her team. She has competed on the big stage with Mother McAuley as well where she won a state title and has already eclipsed 1,000 assists in her short career.

[player_tooltip player_id='479571' first='Maggie' last='Kurpeikis'] is someone Big Ten coaches will be watching during this upcoming 2025 club season. The six rotation outside hitter has something unique about her with the ability to serve receive, pass, and score points in big moments. Watching her at the Prep Dig Gauntlet this past June you could see the makings of what will potentially be another big time recruit out of Chicagoland. She has a violent arm swing and seeing her approach and swing big out of the backrow was special. There are plenty of schools within four hours of Kurpekis who will be giving her a call on June 15, 2025 - but her club and the area has some big connections to Penn State which has been on fire so far this college season.

[player_tooltip player_id='484764' first='Maizy' last='Agnello'] is another outside hitter who just has a different type of pop in her swing. The attacker who preps at Prairie Ridge and plays for [program_tooltip program_id='432009' first='Sky' last='High'] is soaring on the radar of Class of 2027 pins in Illinois and is one to watch nationally as well. This [program_tooltip program_id='432009' first='Sky' last='High'] group from the Class of 2027 is exciting and even has the top prospect from the Class of 2027 from Wisconsin in setter Payton Scifres. Agnello is a threat to score from anywhere on the court. She can score points from the backrow, both pins, and is always a threat from out of system.

[player_tooltip player_id='496048' first='Kampbell' last='Niepagen'] is next in line of six rotation outside hitters who have been high impact players at Sports Performance. She knows how to utilize the entire court where she can hit the deep corner, turn it down the line, and hit a really sharp angle. Her recruiting process has ignited from this past summer with some stops at Big Ten programs for their camps that have included Ohio State, Illinois, and Michigan State,

This Michio 15 National team from this past club season was so fun to watch. They played relentless defense, took some big swings, and had some really solid depth. Out of the middle is [player_tooltip player_id='412536' first='Kyla' last='Mitchell'] who brings plenty of length and athleticism. At 6'3 Mitchell poses a problem for the other side of the net with her block and her ability to transition to run a variety of tempos. She can go in front of the setter, can attack off one foot running a slide, and has a high motor. She has plenty of momentum going and should be an exciting high school and club season for her to finish 2024, heading into 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='529838' first='Kalia' last='Kroth'] packs a big punch on the outside for 1st Alliance and De Paul College Prep. What impresses me most about Kroth is her footwork on the outside. She is fast to the ball, where she manages to get her feet to the ball no matter what the tempo brings. Her arm swing is violent where she is looking to create action, causing chaos on the other side of the net. She is a lethal six rotation player who the defense always needs to know where she is. She is coming off a ten kill performance against Providence Catholic where she is utilized all over the front row on various routes and just finds a way to get it done.

[player_tooltip player_id='529835' first='Ellie' last='Kowalski'] brings so much athleticism to the libero position for St. Ignatius College Prep and 1st Alliance. She was a key piece to the success of 1st Alliance 15 Gold in 2024 where they advanced to the USAV 15 Open Division. She has quite the range and can handle a heavy volume of serve receive. Kowalski also has the ability to make really difficult plays look easy with her ability to anticipate and be efficient with her feet and platform.
