On May 21 Mizzou Volleyball Instagram posted their newest commit – Maizy Agnello. I had to double check that it was from the Missouri Volleyball account and yes, Maizy Agnello, a 2027 prospect will enroll for the fall season. She has been the top player in the Illinois Class of 2027, a powerful outside hitter who has had major success on the high school and club courts. She is the key attacker for Sky High 17 Elite. The pop she has on her swing is just different and her ability to score out of system is worth a couple points a game. This will be an exciting move to see her in the SEC this upcoming fall.

The top-ranked prospect in the 2027 Illinois class, Agnello is a terminal threat any time she receives the set. She’s a big arm with a range of tools to be able to score from anywhere on the court and with a variety of shots. She’s a six-rotation complete talent with ball control and ability to score through space and over the top of most blocks. Agnello is the #42 ranked prospect nationally and is committed to Missouri in the SEC.

Maizy is a dominant player in every aspect of the game. Her serve receive is clean, and she has one of the highest volleyball IQs in this class. Maizy is very physical on the pin and can earn points in both the front and back row.

made a big impact as a freshman at Prairie Ridge, but I think her sophomore season could be huge in regards to statistics and their team record. They were fourth in the Fox Valley and has a strong presence of underclassmen making an impact. Agnello averaged just under three kills per set and is the type of athlete who can score points in any rotation. As a six rotation outside, she’s not afraid to take a big swing. She has an aggressive approach and violent arm swing that will give the other side of the net plenty of problems.

First, we have to start with Maizy, who was lights-out incredible. She never gave up on the ball and was a powerhouse athlete throughout the showcase. Maizy is a competitor and played every point with intensity and grit. She is a highly talented 6-rotation pin whose back-row attack was almost as lethal as her front-row swings.

So powerful. When Agnello strikes the ball on the outside, it just sounds different. This Illinois Class of 2027 is just different when it comes to the depth of pin hitters. Agnello is in the conversation to be among the top in the Class of 2027. Even when the defense knows what’s coming, she is tough to keep her swing in play. She can go hard cross, line, or right over the top of the block. This Sky High team has a balanced attack and when Agnello is on, this opens up everything else for the other attackers.

Sky High 15 Elite is really talented, they have a lot of balance and big time athletes at every position. Agnello was really impressive on the outside for Sky High . She has an aggressive approach and a violent arm swing. The ball explodes off her hand with really solid hand contact. Her physicality and athleticism stands out on the court where she is really tough to defend. She knows how to use the blocker’s hands to her advantage and swings with no fear. This Sky High squad will be a dangerous group heading into the pre-national part of the season.
