Six Middles Setting Up a Wall this Season!

The school season is roughly halfway, and several players have been dominating as blockers to start the year. We cover six players who have stood tall in the middle this season.    Bernard is one of the most explosive players in the class of 2027, and she is among the leaders in total blocks in the state. The South Kitsap prospect has a dynamic vertical when she sets up as a blocker and moves quickly to the pins to cover the seams. At 1.3 blocks per set, Bernard is a force defensively, and she is also hitting an excellent .300 in the season.     Pedersen is a powerful middle player. At 6'2", she has teriffic length and has been well-trained playing for the Papermakers and NPJ. The junior is efficient as a blocker; she reads well and slides into the correct position to get her strong press to the ball. Pedersen will smartly put down an overpass with two hands to an open spot; she plays with good vision as an attacker.      Foote recently posted eight blocks, three aces, and eight kills in a victory over Lynden Christian. Anacortes is off to a 7-3 record on the season and is playing well in the 2A Northwest Conference. Foote is long and plays well above the net with a 10" jump touch. Offensively, the sophomore has added to her game. Foote is moving out to either pin, finding seams in the defense, and throwing down a decisive power tip to score with off-speed.      Smith has verbally committed to the University of Idaho, and the future Vandal is an extremely hard worker on the court. She is always available for her setter in transition, and when she attacks, she can turn the ball to either angle around the block or drop in a killer tio to score. The senior is enjoying a stand-out final season playing for Seattle Prep, and the Panthers are currently 10-1 in the Metro League.      Hofmeister has good power and height, and the 6'2" sophomore is bringing the offense, hitting the "1" and '31" for Bishop Blanchet. When she is in the seam, Hofmeister will find the corners with power and deliver kills with an off-speed tip right over the top of the block. The 2027 prospect showed her versatility playing the pin during club; she looks excellent in the middle for the Bears this fall.     Powers is a 2026 volleyball and basketball prospect with dynamic explosiveness and timing on the court. The multi-sport athlete is also an excellent high-jumper, and it shows when she roofs an opposing attacker at the net. Powers is delivering 1.2 blocks per set, with a high of nine total blocks versus Blaine this season.
