Yesterday, we ushered in Thanksgiving with a list of outgoing seniors we were thankful to cover on the high school circuit. As we recover from food comas and frantic shopping, we want to bring a few more transformative 2025s into the spotlight.

We've already featured several multi-position standouts in this feature series, so let's add one more. Venable's early days as an up-and-coming middle blocker at [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] don't feel so far away. Still, this Omaha commit has developed into an exceptional athlete who can play in the middle or on the outside. Venable's pin-hitting prowess took precedence during her last couple of years with Lincoln Pius X, and the numbers speak for themselves. Her 5.4 kills per set were among the best in Class B, so Venable is peaking at the right time heading into her collegiate career.

Nebraska fans will get to see more of Scholting when she transitions to Midland University and continues her playing career. Her rise to prominence with Pierce High School resulted in some eye-popping numbers and multiple tournament appearances. Scholting finished first among Nebraska seniors in total assists with nearly 1,300 in her senior campaign. This translates to 11.2 helpers per set--a sky-high number in the high school game. The Bluejays are now poised for subsequent tournament runs after Scholting set the standard for the past few years.

Levinson gave us year-round thrills through her play at the middle blocker position. Her quickness off the floor led to some impressive highlight tapes throughout her prep and high school careers. The Maryville (MO) signee was a crucial contributor to Gretna East's tournament breakthrough in the team's inaugural season in 2023. This year, Levinson put down a career-best three kills per set on an equally impressive 0.366 hitting clip. We're eager to see her dominance continue at the next level.

Ottemann's postseason heroics this fall will linger in our minds for a while. She had 17 kills during Johnson-Brock's monumental victory over Oakland-Craig in the Class C2 quarterfinals. Fittingly, Ottemann's tournament kill tally put her over 1,000 for her career. This seasoned attacker showed she could take over the match no matter where she was hitting along the net. Johnson-Brock may not be able to replace its multi-sport star, but Ottemann's place in the Eagle record books will persist for a while.

Waido finally got her moment on the tournament stage. We were lucky enough to cover countless standout performances from Waido on the club circuit with [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last='']. The experienced setter brought that same energy to her final season with Wahoo High School and ended up in the Class C1 title match. Her tempo and precision gave the Warriors an extra edge in a class full of stingy defenses and dynamic attackers. Waido's senior success was a stark reminder of how influential a talented setter can be.

Here's another high-impact setter from the senior scene. Johnson's development with Nebraska Juniors was a joy to cover, and she earned ample starting experience as a Lincoln East upperclassman. She helped anchor back-to-back postseason berths for the Spartans--a rare, long-awaited feat for the Heartland Athletic Conference program. High schools in the Star City are in a better place because of athletes like Johnson.

Furstenau jumped onto our radar after her exceptional stay in Lincoln for the 2023 state tournament. The Elgin Public/Pope John libero helped her team secure an upset victory in the quarterfinals, and Furstenau has kept climbing since that postseason stint. She wrapped up her career with a whopping six digs per set for the second consecutive season, pushing her career total to nearly 1,500. Small-town liberos are always a memorable part of our in-season coverage, and the Wolf Pack boasted one of the state's best.
