The best part about being a scout is going out and watching the players showcase their stuff live on the court. You not only get to see skills, but also hustle, attitude, and body language. Every tournament, new players stand out for one reason or another. It may have been a particular play or maybe they were just a great teammate. The following players made it into my notebook this weekend and I am going to be sure to keep tabs on them as the season continues.

Hubin was a beast in the front court for [program_tooltip program_id='429186' first='Kandi' last='Elite']. She has a huge vertical and a monster swing. She varies her shots, but I have the feeling her line shot is her favorite. She routinely goes up over the block but will also use opponents hands to generate kills. Hubin has the capacity to be a solid 6 rotation outside as her game continues to develop.

Johnson is a new discovery for me. She is a crafty outside hitter that put up various shots this weekend. She can deliver hard ones but also knows when to tip or push. She also has an excellent vertical which not only helps for hitting but also for blocking. Johnson was a blocking force at the net and made several opponents adjust their shots.

I saw Raedel for the first time during gold bracket play on Sunday. She was playing middle and delivering numerous attacks from the middle and right side. She is tall, moves well, and has a super heavy arm. What shocked me even more is when I found out she was playing up two age divisions. Not only could she play in this age division, but she stood out already. Raedel is definitely one to keep tabs on throughout the season and years.

I love lefties, especially a lefty setter so it is no surprise that Jacie caught my eye. She is a hard working setter with good footwork and quick hands. Due to her strength and court awareness, she is able to isolate attackers putting them in the best position to score. Lee is also a solid attacker. She can hit from the pin and even the middle. As she continues to develop her game, I can't wait to watch her run a 5-1 and throw out those crafty setter dumps that lefties can do. Since she is a versatile player and effective attacker already, I have a feeling she will be really good at it.

Rydell is a S/RS that found herself leading her team in the championship match in the 15 open division on Sunday. She is a solid setter that did a good job moving the ball around to get all of her hitters involved. She didn't always just take the easy set, instead she often reversed the ball or found her middles in transition. Rydell also stood out from many setters as she played really good defense. Her ability to read the hitters led to her digging many cross shots and picking up several tips.

Zych is a middle that can do a lot of things well due to her footwork and speed. She can hit quicks in the middle, tempo on a 3 ball, and also place smart tips up and over the block. She also plays great defense. She moved quickly to close the block and also picked up and passed a number of free balls that teams like to send to middles in hopes of taking them out of the play.

Allie Burns is a RS/MB from the small school of Galesville-Ettrick-Trempealeau. I watched her play this past weekend in the 15s division. Her height and power alone make her a positive attack option for any setter. However, one of her biggest strengths on the court this weekend was her ability to play the net. She read the ball well, put up an effective block, and was able to get to those sets that were misplaced or too tight to the net. Burns will be one to keep tabs on as her volleyball career continues.
