<p>The Big City Luau had around 700 teams participating in the tournament. Naturally, we saw some of the great talent we have been following for a while, but we also got a closer look at some newer talent that hasn't been on our radar long and some raw talent that we knew nothings about before this weekend. Regardless of whether it was newer or raw talent, the following are some setters that sure made a huge impact for their teams.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Hellyer is a force as a setter. She has quick feet, clean hands, and isn't afraid to be bold. She will find her hitters in transition and will do some big reversals that opposing teams are not expecting. She does a really good job getting all of her attackers involved and knows how to isolate them for the best chance of scoring. And if that isn't enough of an impact, this setter also played great defense, read the ball well, made some huge saves for her team.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Playing for Salty's this club season, Wolfswinkel led her team into the championship match of the gold bracket at the Luau. Addy is a superb athlete. She is quick, strong, athletic, basically everything you want in a setter. She can track down anything, sets a nice clean ball, and can also attack which poses a threat in a 5-1 offense. Teams aren't able to cheat with their blocking which spreads out the court and gives her hitters more one on one opportunities. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Rumpca-Veronese showed a lot of hustle and determination this weekend at the Luau as her team fought their way through the gold bracket. She is one of those versatile setters that can do multiple things. She can set to the pin, back set with ease, and find her middles to make them an offense threat. Part of the reason that she is such an effective setter, is that she is constantly communicating with her attackers so she can give them what they need. She can also hit from the pin and isn't afraid to go all out on defense.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Schulz is a fiery lefty that can do it all. She presents with an exceptional “all around” game and isn't just a one-note player or that athlete that can ONLY set. While she can definitely dish up assists and run a highly effective offense, she can also hit, serve, and play tremendous defense. This past weekend she showcased all of those skills and did an exceptional job leading her team. They are fun to watch as she connects well with each player and puts them in the best position to score. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Williams did a good job this past weekend at the Luau setting to her attackers. While it helps to have monster pin hitters like Britta Olson on your team, setters like Williams have the capacity to make all her hitters shine. She sets such a consistent, clean ball that attackers know what to expect and thus are able to easier capitalize on it. Williams also plays with a calm about her, doesn't get frantic or easily rattled in high pressure moments, and proves to be an effective leader on the court.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Marti is new setter to jump on my radar at the Luau. I was impressed with her ability to set tempo, push balls to the pins, and find her middles when off the net. I was even more impressed when I found out she was playing up a year on this highly skilled [program_tooltip program_id='429186' first='Kandi' last='Elite'] team. Marti is quick, understand what her hitters need, and works tremendously hard. She is definitely one that I am going to keep my eyes on for the next few years as she continues to grow and develop her game.</p>

She peaked my interest immediately due to her quickness, reaction time, and how good her setting hands are. She was able to track down the majority of the balls and her sets came out super clean with no spin. She also used her speed and agility in the backrow playing strong defense and picking up numerous tips.</p>
