The Kansas Leaderboard: 2028 Ranked Kill Leaders

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I watched the Kansas Class of 2028 closely during the last club season and plan to scout them as often as possible again this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This week and next I will feature leaders from this class in the various statistical categories. Many are ranked, but when I encounter an unranked prospect I will create player profiles for them.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>To begin this deep dive into the Class of 2028, Prep Dig will feature athletes on the kills leaderboard. Here is a look at the top seven-ranked athletes in kills from the Class of 2028.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This is not an all-inclusive list as some teams do not post public stats. Stats for this report were found on Max Preps. Also, I did not include athletes with missing information in their Max Preps profiles.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='513601' first='Karis' last='KiWe Miller']</strong>, 6'0”, OH, Royal Valley, ‘28</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>While I did not see Miller play this past fall, I have seen her compete in club action. She unofficially led all freshmen in kills with 452 in 102 sets played. She is a physical attacker who will continue to evolve and add strength to her frame.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='513606' first='Hailey' last='Schmidtlein'],</strong> 6'0”, MB, Hayden, ‘28</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Schmidtlein is ranked No. 1 overall by Prep Dig and has received all kinds of accolades and awards after her freshman season. She collected 440 kills in 99 sets for the Hayden Wildcats. She is a smooth athlete and a multi-sport prospect who will have college coaches lining up to get her on campus.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='644731' first='Emily' last='Criqui']</strong>, 5'9”, OH, Marais Des Cygnes Valley, ‘28</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Criqui racked up 385 kills in 85 sets for the Trojans, during her freshman campaign. Criqui played six rotations as a freshman and added 474 digs and 76 aces to her freshman stat line. She is ranked No. 27 overall in the Kansas Class of 2028 rankings.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='562034' first='Braydee' last='Miller']</strong>, 5'11”, OH, Eudora, ‘28</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Miller is ranked No. 28 overall by Prep Dig. She finished her junior season with a total of 345 kills in 91 sets for the Cardinals. I have not seen Miller play in person and look forward to catching her this club season or next fall.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='511942' first='Makiya' last='Maka']</strong>, 5'9”, OH, Chaparral, ‘28</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Maka is ranked No. 2 overall in the Class of 2028. She finished her freshman season with 305 kills in 91 sets played for the Roadrunners. I am hoping that I get a chance to see her compete during the club season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='591953' first='Emmy' last='Kaberline']</strong>, 5'10”, OH/MB, Andover Central, ‘28</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Andover Central's Kaberline had an under-the-radar freshman season. The Jags freshman recorded 278 kills in 87 sets. I did not catch the Jags last season, but she competes for Shockwave, which is a club team I usually catch at some point. Kaberline is ranked No. 21 overall in the Kansas Class of 2028.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='532772' first='Sage' last='Illian']</strong>, 6'0”, OH/S, Trinity Academy, ‘28</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Illian is currently ranked No. 10 overall by Prep Dig Kansas. She collected 250 kills in 74 sets played during her freshman campaign.&nbsp; Illian is another Wichita area prospect playing for Shockwave.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
