The party starts bright and early tomorrow morning with first serve scheduled for 7:30 am for some teams. We will continue our exploration of the [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] Pools with the 17 and 18 age groups with teams hailing from Missouri or the Kansas City Metro. For a quick recap, [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] Pool teams are perceived to be the best of the age group before the tournament starts. They battle it out on day one and regardless of outcome, still stay in contention for a title. There are only three teams to discuss, so here we go.

Mavs 17 Elite

The two [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] Pool teams in Mavs and [program_tooltip program_id='515466' first='Pohaku' last=''] have one thing in common, they were both beaten in one set playoff matches during the [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] League Qualifier to [program_tooltip program_id='432164' first='Fight' last='Club'] when the weather-shortened the event. The Mavs redeemed their loss with a sweep of [program_tooltip program_id='432164' first='Fight' last='Club'] but suffered their lone defeat in the first play-date to [program_tooltip program_id='515466' first='Pohaku' last=''], who went 5-0. This team is a revamped team with pieces from the Mavs 16-1 and the Mavs 816 16-1 team that won the top prize in the National division last season. Keep your eyes on players like defender [player_tooltip player_id='220462' first='Madilynn' last='Benne'] and setter [player_tooltip player_id='523631' first='Catlin' last='Shao']. Willow Wininger is an attacker with a reputation for scoring points.

[program_tooltip program_id='515466' first='Pohaku' last=''] 17-1

As mentioned above, [program_tooltip program_id='515466' first='Pohaku' last=''] had a perfect day at the [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] League play date a few weeks back and is ready to take on the Triple Crown. This is as good a team you'll see in this age group this weekend after finishing 3rd in the Open Division at USAV nationals last summer. The show starts with Iowa State commit [player_tooltip player_id='154038' first='Ella' last='Florez'], who has been special from day 1. [player_tooltip player_id='222089' first='Grace' last='Martin'], who will head to the desert in Arizona(State) for her college ball is a dynamic pin. They run a fast offense and do a good job of getting their middles involved early to free up room on the pins.

18s

Mavs 18 Elite

The Mavs are the sole team to get a nod in the Elite bracket and come fresh off of getting a bid at Northern Lights a couple of weeks back. They also have a third-place finish under their belts at MLK last month. They are finding their stride and will look to continue this weekend behind the play of [player_tooltip player_id='154041' first='Logan' last='Parks']. She isn't the only player who makes things happen. [player_tooltip player_id='493090' first='Kamryn' last='McDonald'], [player_tooltip player_id='219763' first='Peyton' last='Liming'], [player_tooltip player_id='173384' first='Jenna' last='McClure'], and [player_tooltip player_id='173374' first='Maegan' last='Mills'] all had amazing seasons this fall for their high school teams and can carry the team for points when needed.
