Our first dip into the deep dive of the class of '27 rankings aims directly for the new (to us) additions to the list. Here are five athletes from five different clubs from around the state that are making waves with their respective squads.

Explosive and terminal, Sarah is a beast from all parts of the court when attacking, and that includes the baseline. Her club season has already seen multiple successes, including winning the Cincinnati AAU Grand Prix this past weekend an earning an invite to the Triple Crown in Kansas City in the club's first year in existence. She's coming from the 4A state champ, and could make them better in the fall, too. The future is VERY bright for this young lady, and she's only getting stronger in all parts of her game.

Avery is a long and lean attacker from small school Forest Park in the southwestern part of Indiana. Her length absolutely dominates in the middle, and her speed and terminal abilities on the right side are hard to stop. I had a chance to see her take over a couple of matches at the Early Bird Shootout, and nearly every set she got she put away with authority. Although Metro itself didn't exactly finish the way they wanted to, their extensive travel schedule and continued improvement will put Avery on the midwest recruiting map sooner rather than later.

From the extreme southwest of Indiana to "the region" in the northwest, Addison is an agile and speedy setter that makes all the right plays in the right situations. Since she plays "up" with older kids, it would be expected to have some growing pains in the adjustment. After watching Addison play in the WCPL multiple times this spring, you wouldn't even notice her age or ability level is anything but belonging. She is a smaller-than-average setter, so developing stronger hands and perfecting her footwork to get tight passes should be the focus of her training this spring. With Epic's early success this season, it looks like she's well on her way to improvement.

A couple of firsts for me with this kid. First, I've never covered a kid from Bethesda Christian. Second, this is my first kid I've covered from NUF, a small-ish regional club that doesn't get a lot of attention in general, let alone specifically for their players. In Ester's case, she's a quick-footed and active floor defender that has no problem doing the dirty work to get the job done. Although a little behind in her development (she looks new to club play), her work ethic and basic skill set cannot be overlooked. I'd like to see the libero jersey on her as well, as my evaluation will be a little more complete when I see her in full-time serve receive mode. For now, Esther is one of the defenders that helps her roster get better in every tournament she's entered.

From small school Triton Central and a startup regional club at North Central, Addison is a solid middle that can be an M1 or an M2 for a smaller school at the next level. Her size might limit her, but her basic skill set and variety of things she does are a solid base to start from. She attacks high, excels at going off of one foot, and uses her impressive wing span to block consistently. I like her ability to take long strides in all parts of her game---from the attack to the block---and her willingness to try new swings when she attacks. Speaking of that, she's highly coachable as well, making her all the more fun to watch.
