South Paws, or lefty athletes, are by far some of my favorite volleyball players to cover. I always make it a point to showcase them at tournaments as I believe they bring so much to the game. The following lefties are all big recruits in the class of 2027 that will receive tons of calls, texts, and emails come June 15th by various colleges. I can't wait to see who snags these players up first.

I have watched Schneider play a few times this year and she always gets it done. A “go to” attacker for her team, Schneider is a versatile terminating machine that reads the block in front of her well. She also has a great vertical that propels her up and over the block, time and time again. Her cross court shot is lethal, but her shot down the line tends to be really hard for teams to handle.

Halverson is a 6 rotation lefty outside that has the ability to read any ball, position herself correctly, and terminate from the pin. I watched her play not only in the state tournament last fall but a couple times this club season and she is basically a scoring machine. What I really like about her is that she doesn't have to be on the right pin to take a big swing, instead she seems to actually prefer to play and attack from the left side. Halverson is also lethal from the back court. Essentially, when she is on the court, you better believe that the ball is likely going to her and she will find a way to score.

Well trained lefty setters are by far my favorite players of the game. Not only can they set, they can create mad chaos on the court as an additional attacker that often leaves teams scrambling. Cotton is one of those dynamic lefty setters. She has the height, skill, and drive to make her a not only a highly effective and dynamic player on the court, but a highly sought after recruit come June 15.

Medenblik is a player that is hard to miss on the court. Not because of her height, but because she is an aggressive, powerful, and strong attacker that is very forceful on the court. While Medenblik predominately swings from the right side, she is also versatile and can also be seen contributing from the middle where she will not only score points, but also put up a huge block.

Williams is a fun player to watch as she is one of those athletes that can do basically anything and everything. I have seen Williams terminate from the pin, run the offense, contribute on defense, and throw down some perfectly placed setter dumps. She is constantly moving, communicating, and contributing on the court, regardless of whether it is offense or defense. Williamson is one of those players that coaches are going to want on their roster due to her skills but also her elevated game IQ.

Hartwick is a right side attacker that is poised for the next level. She has a smooth, quick arms swing with a big range that lets her get her hands on just about every ball that is sent her way. She takes big rips, doesn't back down, and will use blockers to her advantage. What I really like about Hartwick is her ability to adjust to the defense and read the court to find the areas that are open. When defenses adapt to her, she will adjust again to keep them on their toes and continue her scoring spree.
