Introducing Ohio 2029: Five High Contact Prospects

The first 'Watch List" for the 2029 Ohio class is now posted. As these lists are fluid and continue developing as more teams and prospects are viewed, undoubtedly more athletes will be seen, identified, and added going forward. With a lot of attention to 15U and above prospects through each cycle, it is fun to get a glimpse of the rising freshmen class including some we could see competing right away for their high school varsity teams this coming fall season. Here are five high touch prospects with length and are showing promise with elite potential as point scorers.    Freaney has the tools and physical foundation to become a high performance middle over the next few years. She moves well to get herself into good situations to make an impact on both sides of the ball. When on time offensively, she can swing with good authority around the edges of the defenders in front of her. Defensively, her length can fill up big space at the net. Freaney is a big factor for BossCLE 14-1, a team that recently finished 2nd at the Nike Open in 14 Open.     Jankowski can bring good power upon contact at the net. The left side hitter uses a dynamic approach to drive her arms up with a high elbow to help increase her touch point opportunities. She can pass and hit well as a front row attacker and shows good vision and awareness of defenders and space which allows her to display the good arm control and range she is developing at the peak of her jump. AVC 14 Red won the 14 Open division at the Nike Open.     Ryan's game at this stage is impressive. At 5'9, she can get up well to create a high contact point at the top of her lift, which challenges blockers well. She maximizes that athleticism as a hitter with good footwork in her approach pattern to be able to close to the ball effectively for balance and opportunities to swing with range. Her impact increases with her ability to pass and take healthy swings in other locations. She and her M.41 team are qualified into the 14 American division at the upcoming GJNC.     Templin's skills are impressive. As a 6'1 2029 primary left side hitter, she has some big game. She is a gamer and competes well through a solid foundation in her movement in all phases of play. She can pass as well as get up defensively to max her length to get over the tape. Offensively, her footwork builds good momentum and allows her to get to the ball on balance which leads to her opening up well to the ball and developing a big arm through her swing. You can next see her compete at the upcoming Players Championship.     Waleskowski may be the most complete prospect in this class so far. Her dual skills as an attacker and setter are well defined this early in her prep career, to go along with good size and length for both roles. Given her skill set, it is difficult to determine which area of the game she is better right now as she can score from both pins with good heat while also distributing an offense with variety in tempo and good action against the flow. Playing for NKYVC's top 15U team, she has helped them earn a bid to the GJNC in the 15 National division.
