I love watching players excel and stand out in their age division. I know these athletes are going to go far in the volleyball world. I love it even more when I discover players that are “playing up” age levels. These players are often at an advantage as they get introduced to a higher level and tempo of volleyball earlier and can start developing their skills at a faster rate. I noticed a few athletes that I have been following for a while playing up and others I discovered by sheer luck this weekend. Either way, check out these studs as they are going places in the volleyball world.

I haven't seen too much of the northern Wisconsin players this season. So, when I was watching the Ice 16u, I was naturally impressed with Moyer and her abilities. She is explosive in her approach, can go up and over the block, and also knows how to adjust to go around it. Her power, ability to read the block, and her quick arm swing make her a force on the court. However, when I found out she was a 2028 my jaw about hit the floor. This girl is going places and I am going to be sure to keep tabs on her.

I happened to come across Campbell a couple of months ago and was shocked to find out she was only a 2028. When I saw her in the gym this weekend, I had to go check out her skills and I was super impressed with her growth. While her in system attacking has always been fun to watch, I was really stuck by the growth of her out of system swings. She did a fantastic job of transitioning further off the net, tracking the ball, and unleashing a big swing. Brown is going places and I will sure to be following.

I have seen Kelley play a couple of times this year with her 15-1 Rockets team. I didn't realize that she played up on the 16 red team from time to time. Regardless, I thought she did a good job helping her team make it all the way through the good bracket and win the championship. Attacking from the right side, Kelley was a steady pin that put down numerous shots. She altered between hitting hard cross shots, to off speed, to banging it off blockers hands. Kelley will be one to keep tabs on as she continues to grow and develop her game.

I picked Pelzman as a top performer on day 1 as I thought she was one of the best 16u Liberos on the courts. I had no idea she was actually a 2028, playing up an age division! Pelzman is a libero that owns the back court. She is constantly communicating seams, shots, and encouraging her teammates. I was super impressed with her serve receive skills and her ability to pass effectively off her midline. She was also solid in digging and block coverage. She was able to recycle many balls for second chance options. Pelzman is a stud already; I can't wait to see how much she grows in the next couple of years.
