Team Profile: Maverick 16 Maroon

Among the better 16U teams in the Ohio Valley Region, Maverick 16 Maroon found good success in their most recent tournament at the Nike Open in Cleveland at the end of April at which they earned a third place finish in the 16 Open division. Led by a great setter, this team features good ball control and defense as well as some very capable arms across the net. Here are a few of their key prospects.      Bradford is the floor leader that continues to grow her impact with her skills, good decision-making, and variety in the offense she runs to use her attackers to their strengths. This group's offense has some good weapons and Bradford's relationships with them have been key to helping them find success throughout their full rotation. Her skill and experience foundation sets her up well for more success over the final two seasons of her prep career.     As a pin hitter, Stanik (*pictured) has gamer qualities. This includes a well-rounded skill set to be able to contribute in a variety of ways. Her offensive tools on the left side include good power when on time and tempo as well as ability to control the ball to swing with good range at the edges of the block or through space. With a crop of seniors graduating from the Highland (Medina) program, look for Stanik to assume a role that can help them continue their success this next fall.     Feskanich is developing into a well-rounded primary pin option. She can contribute defensively as well as in the serve receive pattern to pass and make a good move to attack. At 5'9, she can create advantages in how well she jumps to hit. She will increase her contact point, balance, and range if she can get a full double-arm lift at the end of her approach work. Her sophomore season effort for Elyria Catholic included averaging nearly two kills per set as the Panthers were 20-7 overall. She should assume a much bigger offensive role in 2025.     I like the work that Pesut does as a middle hitter. She tracks the ball well and is mechanically sound with her footwork to make sure her last two steps get towards her setter to develop the right spacing with balance and the ability to swing through different zones of the opponent's court. She has good range in her offense as well to score off one or both feet and in different locations across the net.     In two varsity seasons for Elyria Catholic, Bodde has earned 363 total digs, with a good portion of those coming in 2024 for an 8.4 d/m average. Defensively, she has good point engagement in relation to the flow and her teammates. She gets herself prepared well to make a play upon hitter contact, which leads to effective reaction in her pursuit. She also tracks the ball well to face and angle with good platform development and control.
