"It was a group effort for sure," Carnes said. "They knew what it would take. The pushed and persevered all season. They took care of their bodies. They wanted it so they did it."

Carnes said Kampsen did a good job being smart with the ball in the team's 6-2 attack. Kampsen said the key to sound setter play is knowing which hitters are hot, how things are going and what the other team looks like. Kampsen credited the team for accepting her and bonding with each other on and off the court. Kampsen set on the freshman team at Conner in the fall and played right side on the junior varsity. Those experiences came in handy for this tournament.

Carnes credited Stevie for making smart choices running the 6-2 offense. Stevie's experience showed in this tournament. Stevie noted the team split up into various high schools after the season so it was a nice way to finish playing with each other.

Fletcher's size made a difference in this one. Fletcher helped make sure the defensive specialists did not wear down. Fletcher said getting touches on balls gives defensive specialists more time to react and read balls, adding this increased reaction time helps the team make better first touches.

Carnes credited Slayback for sealing the net for the defense. Slayback does a good job controlling the net. Slayback has outstanding timing on her blocks. Slayback could help the Jaguars make waves in the rugged 9th Region in the coming years with her work ethic. Slayback said staying ready, watching the setter and making observations where hitters place ball on the court is the key to sound net play.
